A Poem to the Citizens of the USA

Sure,

we share a lot.

We all experience happiness, and sadness, and fear and loneliness.

we are all made from the same things that every human being is made of,

and we all live in the same world.

Or do we?

Some march for rights,

rights that our ancestors have fought for for decades.

Some fight against those same rights.

Some live in places where everyone helps everyone, because everyone is struggling.

Some struggle but don't get help because they are too afraid to reach out and help others.

Some live in places where no one helps each other because they don't need help. Or maybe they don't want to need help.

Some open their hearts to new ideas, ideas that may seem different or scary.

Others are afraid to open up to new things, and would rather stay with what they know.

Some are brave enough to be themselves with no apologies.

Others want to open themselves up and embrace themselves and all their quirks, but are afraid of what others may say or think.

Still others are afraid of what their true selves might be, so they let themself fester away in the shadows until they are but a faint reflection of who they truly are.

Some succeed because they are given many opportunities to succeed.

Others are afraid they don't have what it takes to succeed, even if they are given the chance.

And others want to succeed, but are not given the chance, so they must work so very hard to create that chance.

Some people love others unconditionally,

others are too afraid to love,

so

they choose to hate instead.

But why choose to hate others when you are given the beautiful chance to love?

Love makes a person way more happy than hate ever will.

Why be afraid of people because they are different?

We are all human,

we all feel pain.

we all feel love.

we all feel joy.

we all feel sadness.

we all feel hate.

we all feel fear.

Why choose to add to and tolerate the extreme amounts of sadness, hate, and fear in our world,

when instead you could help those feeling hate, fear and sadness, and in turn they would help you feel happiness and love.

Why have a world filled with hardship

When you could have a world filled with

happiness.

We're not just a world full of different, separate people who love some but hate others.

No.

We are a world of humans.

We are all humans.

So why don't we treat each other like humans?
