Becca's POV

"You heard of that flu spreading through California?" Will turned to me briefly before chucking the tennis ball he was throwing for Oly.

"Yeah, crazy, right?" I took a bite of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich I had packed in my lunch before my face scrunched up in disgust and confusion. This was not the peanut butter and jelly sandwich I had made early this morning.

I realized that I had packed Tommy's lunch into my bag again and ended up taking a bite of his mayo and cheese sandwich.

Definitely not my favourite combination.

Will laughed at my expression before offering half of his sandwich to me. I gratefully took it, putting Tommy's odd sandwich back into my bag.

Just as Will was about to say something, we heard the radio from inside the car turn on and listened intently to what it said;

"All available units, high speed pursuit in progress Lincoln county units request local assistance. Highway 18 south. GTAAD W217 243."

"Well, we better go." I said as I opened the back door for Oly to jump in.

As soon as Will and I got into the car, he immediately responded.

"10-4." He replied to dispatch.

I slammed on the gas, the siren of the squad car blaring around us as we sped down highway 18.

"Jesus christ Kade, I get you're excited, but chill." Will joked from beside me, he gripped the door handle till his knuckles turned white.

"First high speed chase Lacefield, I've got the adrenaline pumping through me." I gave him a lopsided smile before returning my eyes to the road I was speeding down.

"Suspects are two male Caucasians. Advised, they have fired on police officers. One Linden County officer is wounded."

"Arriving on scene now." I said into the radio as we parked the car, officers Walsh and Grimes parking behind us. Will jumped out off the car and grabbed the spike strip, while Shane did the same. Me and Rick helped them spread them across the road.

"Unit 1, Unit 3, to eastbound route 18. Two miles west of Interstate 85. Will patch in Linden County sheriff radio."

We got back in our cars and reversed back, making a line of squad cars.

"10-9, we just got word from Linden County, that they're off 18, now southbound."

"Old French Road is closed down there so they're gonna head back onto 18."

I ducked behind my open door, my glock 22 in hand, while Will placed his colt M4 carbine on the top of the door.

Oly barked from the back seat and I shushed him with a snap of my fingers.

"Sounds like they're chasing those idiots up and down every back road we've got." Deputy Kendall shook his head, balancing on one knee on the ground.

Deputy Bassett turned to us. "Maybe we'll get on one of them video shows, you know? Like 'World's Craziest Police Chases.' What do you think?"

Rick turned to him, a scowl forming on his face. "What I think, Leon, is you need to stay focused and make sure you've got a round in the chamber and your safety off."

Deputy Bassett checked his glock 17 before aiming his attention towards the road in front of us.

"Would be kinda cool," Shane muttered to me. "Getting on one of them shows." Rick shook his head at him as the sirens drew closer.
