Harry groaned into his hands as he sat at his desk, trying to figure out how to go about fixing what he's done. His wolf was snarling at him to apologize and go hold his mate, but Harry knew it was more complicated than that. Having some time away from her sweet, intoxicating scent and clearing his head made him realize how much of an ass he had been. Also- how scared she must have been.
She was a younger woman, sent off to mate a stranger. A stranger she had no doubt heard rumors about. Harry knew the things said about him, and most of them were true- just not fully. He did kill anyone who crossed him. But he didn't go around killing pack members or anyone he wanted simply because they annoyed him. Anyone he killed had a thousand percent deserved it.
No one could really blame her for being hesitant. She had come here expecting to be in a forced mating, just as she said. Rosalie had been forced into a marriage. What if it hadn't been him? Harry had a sudden burst of anger towards her father. He wouldn't ever allow his pups to have the chance of being with their mates taken away from them. However, there was no way he was giving Rosalie up now.
He had used his alpha voice without a second thought. It wasn't to offend her or make her sad, as it had. It was because it was his instinct. When he didn't get what he wanted, he pulled superiority and dominance over other wolves which always worked. Rosalie was right, though. It wasn't fair of him.
He had to remind himself that she wasn't a submissive little mate. Rosalie had this spark. The brunette obviously didn't like being bossed around. A true alpha female, but Harry would need to work on that. He really Would try but they both knew it was going to be difficult.
He sighed quietly as he got up and made his way to their room, only to find it empty. /Damn It/. His wolf growled at him when she wasn't immediately found, uneasy now that his mate wasn't in his sight. They'd just found her, he didn't want to lose her again.
Taking some time to search, he found her outside on a smaller balcony of one of the guest rooms. Sitting on a wooden chair she had brushed the snow off of, her knees were tucked under her chin as she looked sadly off into the mountain and valleys. Harry's wolf whined, clawing at him to make his mate feel better.
"I'm sorry." He said softly, looking down at her. "I didn't mean to do that... it wasn't okay if me to do." He brushed snow off the other chair and dragged it over to sit himself down in front of her.
"I'm not used to this. I'm not used to having an equal. It's difficult for me remember. I'm always on top, always the alpha. And I need you to remember how difficult it's going to be for an alpha male to treat someone as their equal. I'm going to try for you though, until I get it right." He said surely, taking her small hand in his own when a bitter stream of air and snow gusted over them.
To a human, they'd be completely frozen at this point. But they both were fine. Wolf Body temperatures were higher and it was fine for them to be out like this, only a slight shiver going down Rosalie's back at the wind.
She finally looked up after thinking for a moment. Her eyes were cautious but Harry couldn't stop himself from getting lost in them. Hell, he was sounding cheesy now but fuck if he cared. He had the most beautiful little thing right in front of him and she as his.
"I know. I understand that, Harry. But it's difficult coming from a place where I was trying to cope with not having a chance with my mate, to getting here and finding out you're my mate and... its all so confusing." A slight growl was in her tone but Harry could tell it wasn't directed at him, rather at her own frustration.
"Okay. How about we just take a bit of time to get to know each other then? Understanding each other will probably help our wolves connect even more... make it easier to sink into the roles." Harry stood up and helped her up as well.
"Deal. Just don't use that tone with me again." She warned, standing up and brushing the snow from herself. Harry couldn't help but curse under his breath when he got another look at her gorgeous figure. His mate was so stunning.
"I will do my best. Now come in with me, little wolf. You need to eat."
Did ya miss me?
