I awoke from my slumber to the sound of a loud clatter. The barn was abandoned but that didn’t mean anybody wouldn’t come around. I shot up from my spot in the back seat and looked around the area from the windows. I didn’t see anything but I didn’t want to just pass it off and end up in a jail cell. I slide over and put my hand on the small handle popping open the door and slowly putting my foot to the ground. I had kept my boots on while I slept. I pretty much just kept on all the clothes I had on. Incase, you know. Something happened.
I crept around the back of the car and scanned around with my eyes. I didn’t see anything until I heard a small noise and saw a mouse scurry by. In the end it was nothing more then a field mouse looking for some food probably.
I got back in the drivers seat and started the car. It roared to life and I got back out to open the barn door. I pushed the door open being hit by the bright sun light. The air was hot and the wind was blowing only slightly. I instantly felt sweaty. I got back into the car and drove out of the barn stopping so I could get back out and shut the old barn’s door.
I didn’t want to be leaving any signs that I had actually been here. Leaving a door open that was normally closed would be a big sign. The BRIGHT YELLOW car wouldn’t be tell enough to maybe neighbors far off in the distance so I wouldn’t come back to this barn again tonight.
I would maybe in a few days if I had too, but not tonight.
I got back in the car and drove the short distance to the highway.
I soon saw a sign again for a rest area. One I had not stopped at before. There was only one car parked and I didn’t see anybody. I shoved the dye into my bag and got out and went around the back of the car popping the trunk. I went thru the bag and found an outfit at the bottom. A pair of plain light blue pair of jeans, which weren’t my style at all but that, was the idea behind hiding I didn’t want to look like myself anymore. I pulled out a white top that was plain, a white bra and some under wear. I’d find a room to rent later tonight since I couldn’t go back to the barn tonight and I kind of wanted to shower.
I slowly made my way to the women’s restroom, which upon entry was empty. I locked the door and went about opening the dye box and mixing all the stuff inside. Dyeing your hair in a sink would be tough but I was going to do this.
After about an hour later, which to my utter surprise nobody knocked on the door or even came by. I looked like a new me. I saw my face in the mirror but I didn’t look too much like myself anymore. Dyeing your hair in the sink was tough but I got the job done and I got my pocket knife out and cut some of my hair. It had grown a lot of the last couple of months reaching down to my mid back. I cut it, not short but I changed the style a bit. I normally just trimmed my hair when I felt like it. I never went and dyed it anything dark like this though.
I looked different that was for sure. My outfit wasn’t me. The light blue jeans were more a girly style then I ever wore. I put the jeans on, buttoned them slowly. they fit me well.
It wasn’t like I wasn’t a jean person I normally cut mine up and deformed them until they didn’t even look like jeans anymore and I always wore black ones.
Always.
I put the light white top on and threw a more sheerly white top over it the sleeves reached my elbows and I buttoned it halfway up. I was ready to go.
