~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I sat at the table with Val my eyes narrowed my annoyance on high alert. She was the last person I ever wanted to see. It wasn’t that I expected anyone else to walk thru the door but I was hoping to say the least that Adam walked thru the door.  The amount of hope I had left on the surface was dwindling as time had pasted in this tiny room.

We sat in silence for a long time before there was a beep at the door and it unlocked again and another detective came in. This time it was a woman. She was tall, skinny and built like a fighter. She had on a tight grey shirt under a sports jacket that stretched across her small chest. The badge hung from her neck labeled her as a NARC.   She wore jeans with her sports coat which was odd but who was I to judge.

“Miss Carmichael, I have someone whom is very eager to see you, in the other room.” She said glancing at the two way mirror. I had figured that someone was on the other side while I sat in here I wondered who it was. “I’ll bring him in a bit. First I have some questions to ask you.”

“You’re in a world of trouble Mia. What the Hell were you thinking!?” Val said at me breaking her silence.

I glanced in her direction and turned my face away, anger rose in my veins, did she think I cared? Her life was a picnic she didn’t know anything.

“Valerie, please let me ask the questions or I will have to ask you to leave.” The officer cut in.

Valerie folded her arms and openly glared at the officer.

“Miss.Carmichael..” she began

“Mia.” I cut in “my name is Mia.”

“Mia, I want to help you.” She said.

“Sure…..officer….?” I questioned.

“Jackson, Evelyn- Jackson” she replied with a soft smile, putting her hands together and resting them on the table.  I would have removed mine but they had been cuffed to the table.

“Ms. Jackson, I don’t know what you’re talking about… I was just borrowing a friend’s car and I went for a drive.” I said shaking my head at her.

“I understand your distrust Mia.” Evelyn replied, with a pause. “But we both know you did more then borrow a friend’s car.”

“Excuse me. I have no idea what your talking about.” I disagreed.

“We know about all of it Mia. It was a set up, with Adam and Liam; we didn’t however know they were bringing other people along.” Ms Jackson stated, looking over at the two way glass. “We know that he met with the Boss, set it all up as planned. We just didn’t know the location and it didn’t go down the way it was supposed too.”
