I'm sorry I suck at writing now. I'm ready to be me from two years ago, when I had two readers and was a struggling August Alsina author

"Esh hart"

"It's hard, or it hurts?"  Warren asked.

Daelin looked at her brother before laying down and quietly rolling over.

"I'm sorry, Dae"

The removal of the tumor had affected her speech.

"Can you say dog?" A man walked in.

A trail of trouble followed behind him like the train of a wedding dress.

"Dog" She mumbled.

"Could you say a sentence for me?"

"Uh kick bown dog"

"Was it 'the quick brown dog jumped over the lazy fox'?"

"Jump" She mumbled.

"Jumped"

"Okay, Daelin. I see you are talking to your speech language pathologist, but could you focus on me for a moment?" The doctor said, standing in the doorway.

The room was completely silent, but Daelin didn't even turn her head slightly.

"Dae" Warren called out to her.

About seven seconds later, she turned to look at him.

"Okay" The pathologist write something down on a piece of paper. "Can you tell me what this is?" He held up a flashcard with a picture of a monkey on it.

Daelin's lips moved, but no sound came out, as she was trying to figure out the name. "Swing...dog?"

"No, not a dog. This is a monkey, but moneys do swing"

She laid back down on the bed, already giving up.

"I apologize for upsetting you, but we're just trying to see where you're at mentally"

She closed her eyes, and touched the bald part of her head.

"Daelin-"

"Who is this, Warren?" Dennis walked into Daelin's room with Wilona, and Jayvon.

"I'm going to be Daelin's speech pathologist. Nice to meet you"

"Oh so you gotta get the job?" Dennis examined the man infront of him.

"Not necessarily, sir. No"

Wilona hugged Warren before sitting down with her daughter, and running her hand down her leg.

Daelin sat up, and stared at her mother.

"Hi, baby"

Hi Daelin mouthed, and looked at her father quickly before looking at Jayvon, then the floor.

Vice walked through the door with flowers. "Nobody told me she had surgery. Y'all neighbors said an ambul-"

Jayvon pushed Vice outside roughly, and he almost fell. "Fuck you doing?" Vice asked.

"Don't be laid up with no bitches and expect everything to be cool. Ain't no fuckin' DaeDae shit nomore. You gotta go cause you not family. You just a worker"

"Oh, thats how it is? I can't say hello or nothin'?"

"For what? You doing more harm than good. Besides, you got two duffels to move today"

"By myself?!?" Vice scrunched his eyebrows together, because he had never done that before.

"So? We busy" Jayvon went back into the room.

Daelin was leaned back against Dennis while her mother held both of her hands.

"Can you go for a walk with us?" Wilona asked, knowing that her muscles would loose more mass if she sat all day.

She shook her head no, and made her father let go of her before turning over. "Ehh hurts"

"That's why you gotta walk everyday until it doesn't hurt anymore"

She shook her head again, before closing her eyes, wondering when the hell they would just leave her alone.
