Thinking back to when Harry asked me to be his girlfriend, I couldn't believe how young we were. Sometimes I just like to sit back and think of what happened that day, just for old times sake.
"My, my Olivia! Why do you want to go to all of your brothers games all of the sudden! What do you do in that park?" My mother half joked half interrogated.
"I am just reading, mom! The park is really peaceful!" I insisted while leaving the bleachers towards the park. Of course that was a lie. My brother had match's here two times a week, and I made sure I came every time. And so did Harry. I have to say I was starting to fancy him a tad. I mean, he is the first boy ever to show int rest in me. Well, enough int rest to come to the park two times a week for the past month, hopefully to see me.
After I arrived at the park, I spotted Harry swinging on the swing set, he waved at me and I hustled over, leaving my book on the park bench.
"Hello Harry!" I smiled, I still felt awkward around him. Partly because I fancied him, and partly because I wasn't sure if he fancied me back.
"Ollie! Join me!" I giggled and took a seat on the swing beside him, slowly starting to pump my legs.
We just swung there in silence for a little while. Usually Harry was the one to start a conversation, and for some reason, he wasn't saying anything. The sun was hot today, it must have been the first nice day of the year.
"So..." I mumbled, decide ding that I would have to get things rolling. Since our swings were on different rhythms, it was hard to see his face.
"Ollie, I have wanted to say this for a while, but I think now is the right time." I heard Harry say. This was it. It had to be the moment when he said he fancied me back, or all of this was a cruel prank. But for some reason, I had a wonderful feeling it would be my first thought.
"Yes Harry?" My heart was beating like a drum, I was overwhelmed by emotions, I felt like screaming and crying at the same time.
"I really fancy you Ollie, would you be my girlfriend?" A boy, a real boy was actually asking me to be his girlfriend! How would I react to this?
I stopped swinging and so did he. I gave him an intense look. I could almost see the anticapation building inside of him.
"Of course Harry! I was waiting for you to ask!"
Little did my thirteen year old self know that in that very moment, I was starting something that would last my whole life.
