She once was a common girl,
Who then turned to a frog,
And tried desperately to be human again.
She was told a kiss could fulfill her desire,
A kiss from royalty,
So that is what she sought out for.
She searched far and wide for a prince who could save her,
But found none that would treat her quite right.
After being kicked out of all the castles she knew,
All her hopes had faded,
And she was slowly giving up.
She had no interest in forever frog life,
But that seemed to be the only option,
And an idea popped into her head.
It was a gruesome idea,
So she pushed it away,
But it kept coming back to haunt her.
Finally she gave in to her soul's desires,
And decided it wasn't as bad as it seemed.
She went to the bayou and took one last breath,
Staring deep at her murky reflection.
Before giving it one last thought,
She leaped into the water,
And slowly sank to the bottom.
When all air was fading from her,
She mentally screamed,
And regretted the choice she just made.
She could have kept searching,
Gone farther and wider,
And found a prince who feel sympathy for her.
But that was no longer an option,
What a foolish girl she was,
And all life faded from her beady frog eyes.
-
I tried to make her thoughts and suicide more realistic.
I mean, as realistic as a frog girl can get.
(The prince that originally turned her into a frog in Disney's The Princess and the Frog isn't present in this poem.)
