The next day was the last day of camp, and the last hour of free time. When the time came, I didn't even bother to tell Chelsey, but just ran over to the other side.
Again, I went to the central spot and looked for that bright red helmet, and found it in a matter of seconds. This time I went to him, but he was surrounded by a group of boys. I stuck my arm between two heads, and tapped on his shoulder.
"Hey, Brady!"
He turned around, startled, and a smile came across his face. He maneuvered his way through a couple boys, and they started to get jealous looks as he talked to me.
"Well, do you have anything planned right now?"
"I was gonna practice skateboarding, but I can do that later. Ya got any ideas?"
"Just one," I said with a smile. "follow me."
We walked on the bark chip path to my side of camp, and went to this little shed. I opened it up, and to my right was a shelf full of small game boxes.
"Wanna play?"
We got out battleship and twister, and started to play. We laughed and goofed off, before we heard the loud whistle blow, indicating that free time was over. I looked down at the mess of games.
"I'll pick this up, you just run back."
"No, I have to help you. I'm a fast runner."
We quickly put the pieces back in the boxes, and the boxes back in the shed.
"Well, this is it." Brady said.
"I'm not sure if we'll see each other again."
"Oh, I'll make sure we will." He responded, and we both smiled.
"Well, bye Brady."
"See ya another time, Ellie."
He ran the opposite direction, and I turned around. But a couple seconds later, I heard steps coming toward me, and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Brady close to me. He took a step forward and placed a soft, quick kiss on my cheek before pulling back.
We looked at each other for a couple seconds, before he ran the opposite way. I watched as he disappeared behind the trees, and I ran the other way, every step, getting further away.
