I woke up on February 3rd, to my mom busting through my door singing 'Go shorty, it's your birthday.'
"Moooommmmm," I said, tiredly.
"Cmon! Rise and shine 15 year old!"
She left the room still singing, and I dreadfully got out of bed. I love my birthday, don't get me wrong, but I am not an early bird.
I put on dark ripped jeans, and one of my favorite shirts, pink and black striped. I flat ironed my hair, and did my typical makeup.
I went downstairs, to see my favorite breakfast sitting on the table, waffles and bacon.
"Thank you mom!" I said as I sat down and started to dig in.
"Anything for the birthday girl," she said.
"Oh Ellie, Brady wanted me to tell you that he's gonna be here at 7:30. He said something about walking you to school."
I couldn't help but smile, and held in the blushing as much as I could. I finished eating my breakfast, packed my bag, and waited outside. It was already 7:26 so I thought he would be there soon.
I saw a silver suburban pull up, and out came Brady. He said something to his mom before shutting the door, and the car drove away. He started walking towards me.
"There's my favorite birthday girl."
I laughed and grabbed his hand as we started walking down the sidewalk.
"You didn't think I wouldn't give you a gift, did you?"
"I don't know, I didn't want to expect anything." I said sarcastically.
He stopped and pulled a small box out of his backpack and handed it to me. I opened it, and saw a gold necklace, with a single pearl in the middle.

"Brady, I love it!" I said as a ran over to hug him.
"Do you want me to put it on for you?"
"Obviously!"
We both smiled, and I couldn't help but love him even more. He snapped it on my neck, and I turned around, so close to him I cloud feel him body heat radiating.
"Brady, this is way more than you had to do. Thank you. I really, really love it."
In that moment I felt like I could just go and kiss him, but I didn't want out first kiss to be in front of my house, with a good chance that my mom was watching us.
"I'm glad."
We kept walking to school, tightly hand in hand the whole way.
"Well, I'll see ya later babe." I said.
"See you soon birthday girl."
We hugged goodbye and started walking separate ways. Seconds after we walked away from each other, I got a text from Brady with just a heart emoji. I turned around, and saw him looking back at me.
We looked at each other for a couple seconds, then kept walking. I couldn't help but keep touching the pearl on the necklace. Somehow, it felt like when I touched it, he felt closer to me.
During my second class, I got a note delivered to me.
"Be ready at 5:30
-Brady"
