It didn't take long to locate where Sidney was. He was basically where Emerson left him but was talking to Marc and Véronique. She felt hesitant going over to interupt, but after a breather she wanted to be near him once more... being around a guy that your attracted to that could just touch you, and easily turn you on, there was no way to think normally around him. Ems felt like her judgement was bad in that moment but now she was thinking more quickly. There couldn't be any brash decisions now.

Emerson made her way over, heels clicking against the floor the whole time. It was like Sid knew whenever she was near because his focus went to her immediately.

His eyes narrowed in on her form. The way her hips swayed as she walked, the way her hair flowed behind her- she looked like a goddess. Her dark eye makeup kept him entranced as he couldn't bring himself to look away from her eyes.

"Hey Ems!" Marc smiled brightly.

"I just had an odd run in with Jake and Olli so I figured I'd try to escape them."

"How drunk are they?"

"Very drunk. Let's just say that tomorrow is not going to be too fun for them."

"I hope they suffer well then." Marc giggled. Véronique suddenly took his hand, gave Emerson a look, and dragged them away leaving the Captain and the goalie.

Sid was well aware why Emerson ran off earlier. He had no place to do what he was doing and he could tell she was well aware of that fact. They were good friends but they were walking on eggshells around eachother, around their feelings. As Sid was left alone with Emerson as people went and crowded in the center of the lounge to watch the ball drop of TV, he actually wasn't sure what to do.

"Excited for 2017?"

"It'll be a good year, I can feel it." Ems smiled up at him. She was feeling much more calm, stable in his presence now and she was glad for that.

"Wanna move closer?"

"And what? Miss some light up toy slide down a pole signaling it's a new year? Wouldn't miss it for the world." Sidney loved her sense of humor when she thought of things like that. It was starting to surprise him less and less when she made left field comments like that. The older man could only chuckle at her statement, "Then come on."

The countdown was about to start.

Emerson's back was pressed to Sidney's chest as they were squeezed between mounds of people. The TV screens lit up with the NYC time square countdown, all the thousands of people present and excited. It only took seconds for the ball to start dropping and the final seconds of 2016 to slip by.

5!... 4!... 3!... 2!... 1!... Happy New Year!

Cheers filled the room as everyone began yelling and clapping. Noise makers went off and people began pulling others in for kisses.

Emerson had been apart of the gleeful cheers as crowds always dragged her in. She loved being apart of these types of things, but watching couples kissing around her made the color start to drain from her already very red face. The tight grip Sid then placed on her waist with his hands made her freeze and her body couldn't react. She couldn't face him.

The two stood awkwardly, and as Emerson went to escape his grasp he grabbed her arm in return. She stared up at him and felt confused and she saw his hesitancy as well. Sidney went and tucked some of Emerson's loose hair behind her ear tenderly, as he contemplated what he wanted to do
