Emerson Rousseau was going to be the second woman to play in the NHL since the 90's. After her four required years in the NCAA's.. it's time for her to be brought up with the team that drafted her when she was eighteen, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

STADIUM SERIES was in just a few days. After celebrating a win in Carolina, most of the team was feeling pretty good about this upcoming Saturday. Games against the Flyers were always a spectacle and by far more intense than any other team they play. It was like a flip was switched in every one of the Penguins heads, and their A game was brought. However, it also meant a higher risk for fights and then injuries. The 'bad blood' between these two teams definitely showed out on the ice. And it would be coming in full force soon.
Emerson was beyond excited for Saturday. Not only was it Stadium Series, but her first outdoor game. It would be packed with Penguins fans as it was going to be in Pittsburgh, which also meant it was going to be a big deal to win. Though thinking about it made the young girl smile and feel giddy inside.
She found out after practice that she'd be in net. That made things much more real. There was definitely guilt as she'd be starting over Marc, a veteran, who seemed for worthy to play. However, she understood the sport and the goalie that's playing best at the moment is going to play. At least with Marc she knew there would be no ill feelings.
Emerson was leaving their practice rink since they finished on the ice and had a workout session. But a workout session meant her, Jake and Olli fooling around while attempting to get their reps done at the same time. Today was hard. She couldn't remember the last time she genuinely wanted to quit the sport and stay in bed all day. At least tomorrow would be fairly moderate along with Friday- she just hoped the coaching staff wasn't planning on trying to kill them anymore before the big game.
"Ems!" from behind her, Emerson could clearly tell it was Jake calling for her.
"Hey what's up?" she asked nonchalantly as she was putting her stuff into the back of her car.
"What are you doing tonight?"
Earlier in the day, during the workout, a few of them had talked about hanging out, "nothing I'm aware of. We actually gonna do something?" most of the time their plans tended to fall through, for no particular reasons; it's just how it worked when trying to make plans with guys. Emerson knew boys weren't the best with it, she knew first hand.
"Yeah why don't we hit up a bar or something, have fun." it had been awhile since the younger members of the team did something; that wasn't 'adult supervised'. And Emerson surely couldn't remember her last night out on the town. Her life was a lot more grown up than what it used to be.
"And who do you suggest we invite?"
From behind the two younger hockey players came a different voice. A couple of the older teammates could hear their chat, "Inviting who where?" Kris was walking over with Sidney and Geno, "you kids having a party or something?" he had an amused look on his face.
