Ivan's Pov

I woke up cold and hungry. This wasn't the best day for me after all. Or maybe for the past year. I sat up with a small yawn and checked my surroundings. I was in a small tent. There were a few small boxes on the side, possibly supplies. I made sure my scarf was wrapped around my neck securely before heading outside. There were many people in their military uniforms as usual. They were absolutely ready for anything. Guns hanging on their backs, knives sheathed in their pockets, everything was perfect.

Even with all this happening, we were running low on food. Everyone was hungry. Their stomachs were grumbling, empty. No one would show it though, since we are the strong ones.

It was snowing. How could I have not noticed before? Must be since I'm used to it.

Taking a deep breath and exhaling smoothly, I walked forward to the tanks. They were all lined up, perfect. Nothing bad would happen after all.

One of my fellow soldiers came to me. "Sir, they will be closing in on us soon. Shall we move forward as well?" I thought about it for a moment before nodding. "Da, let's head out now. Make the announcement."

As soon as I turned, I was struck. My body flew across the field. Who knows how far. How foolish was I to think we should have moved in the morning. They were already ready to kill us right here. No mercy, that was how it was.

They betrayed me.

Why did you betray me-

_____

I gasped and sat up, my eyes wide. My heart pounded in my chest loudly as I tried to calm down.

What happened?

It was all a dream?

What was that dream for?

Was it my... past?

"Hey, Stranger, wake up. I have to go meet someone. I'm not leaving you alone in my house." I turned to see Y/n looking at me with her expressionless face as usual. "I'm not a stranger. I'm Ivan." I replied back to her. It was a bit annoying for how she treated me. "Whatever, go wash your face and we'll go." She said before walking away, leaving me alone in the room. I guess I have no choice but to listen to her. She'll be the only one who I can trust, for now.

After washing my face like I was told to, I went over to the living room. Y/n was transfixed on a picture on the wall. She just stood there, expressionless, as she stared at the picture. A shiver ran down my spine and I quickly looked away. I wonder what she was looking at. Is it important?

Suddenly, there was a hand on my shoulder. I quickly jolted away and stepped back. I saw that it was only Y/n, who gave me a confused look. "What's wrong, Ivan?" She asked me, making another shiver run down my spine. "Nothing is wrong..." I muttered and looked away. "Well let's head off then. We shouldn't waste time." She said and headed out. I followed behind her quietly, not wanting to speak.

There's something odd about her. Different, even. This didn't feel right at all. "Ivan, we shouldn't waste time." Y/n spoke again. I blinked and looked up to see Y/n smiling at me. She was... smiling? This wasn't real, right?

"Oh come on Ivan, don't look at me like that." She laughed and grabbed my hand. "I still remember our favorite place."

All of the sudden, we were in the middle of the woods. Then it faded into a sunny field of sunflowers.

"We're here! Finally." An annoyed voice said. "I'm so sick and tired of having to run so much!" I blinked, seeing that it was Y/n who spoke those words. She suddenly just changed personalities. I opened my mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I tried to force out my voice, but no matter how hard I tried, nothing came out.

Y/n laughed at me as the sunflower field suddenly faded away. We were now on a frozen lake. "Ivan, you should close your mouth before you catch a bug." I closed my mouth, staring at Y/n. What was happening? Why was everything suddenly changing?

"Ivan, is there something wrong?" I blinked and saw Y/n standing in front of me, giving me a blank look. I glanced away for a moment to check my surroundings. We were outside. Right, we went out because Y/n had to meet someone. I looked back at her and shook my head. "No, nothing is wrong."

She only shrugged me off and left ahead. I sighed and continued to follow her.

_____

A large building sat in front of us as we walked towards it. Just what kind of person is Y/n meeting right now? It was a little confusing.

I continued to follow behind Y/n as we entered the building. Everything was so quiet in this area. Especially since there weren't very many people here either.

All of the sudden, Y/n stopped and turned to me. She gave me her usual stoic expression as she spoke, "Wait here for me, and don't make trouble." I blinked in confusion as she turned back around and left me. I stood still and looked around for a place to sit. There was a small row of chairs beside the wall.

I went over and sat in one of the chairs, waiting patiently for Y/n. This building, it didn't feel safe. I don't know why I would think that way, but it just doesn't feel safe. Something doesn't seem right.

Then there I saw him. His back straight, walking with a case in hand. His blond hair was messy but his eyebrows gave off more of an appearance. He didn't smile, nor did he seem to care about his surroundings at the moment. Though, as he passed me, he took a quick moment to spare a glance at me before looking back forward as if he never acknowledged me.

It oddly made me shiver. He didn't seem threatening, nor did he seem nice either.

Then another man came. His long blond locks stopped to his shoulders as he walked gracefully. He whistled to himself while following behind the man with unruly hair. The man seemed to look everywhere but me. He never glanced my way, only away from me.

I was confused. Who were those people? They seemed oddly familiar, but at the same time I feel like I've never really been that close to them before. Why am I even thinking this way? I hate it.

Standing up, I followed behind the two men in a distance. I don't know what I'm doing, but following them gave me a feeling that I would have answers.
