"Ciudad de los Tramposos", or "The City of Cheaters". I hear a long, long, long time ago this city used too be called: "The City of the Determined", but nowadays people just call it "The City of Cheaters". I used to be a kid, a kid with hopes, a kid with dreams, a kid with something other than rap sheet and broken ties with a mob boss. The sky, it's an illusion, there is a sky for night and a different one for day, it stretches outward like a dome; and it's corners touch the farthest reaches of our world. This is our world, our inauthentic, imperfect, small, but sometimes scary world: "The Terrain".

I believe it was about two hundred years ago, The original world (what I believe was called "earth") was destroyed, this new one was created in it's place, a world occupied completely by data and code, a simulation so advanced that it challenged reality itself. Most people have forgotten that they are living in a simulation; they aren't unaware but they choose to ignore it, I however, chose to embrace it.

When "The Terrain" was created, some ground rules were set in place:

1. No being shall ever hurt another being; digital life will not be permanent, however, it shall remain free of disease until the day it dies naturally, a digital afterlife will not be created.

This rule was not followed. People found a way to hurt others, and "digital diseases" became a man-made catastrophe.

2. All currency shall remain digital and shall be impossible and illegal to replicate.

My job is actually replicating the currency we have set in place, after it was discovered that you could create an almost perfect re-creation of digital currency it became streamlined and is now commonplace.

3. People shall not be punished for thoughts and shall not be monitored for suspicious thoughts or brain activity.

Brain activity is monitored by the government, most paranoid people install a "jammer" so that there minds can't be scanned.

4. None of this physical world shall be altered in any way that is not in the world's best interest

Our entire sky, the sky we have up above, is completely covered in graffiti. It's actually quite sad if you think about it.

I'm a Hacker, this is the life I live, where I live it, and the laws I live by or don't live by. I hope one day, that things might change, but for now, this is our inauthentic, imperfect, small, but sometimes scary world.
