"He's what?!" I demanded, stomping over to the guard who was now shivering.

"Midna..." Blade warned. I could already tell what he was trying to say:

'Don't take it out on the guard. Don't lose your temper. Don't give in.'

But it was too late.

"There is no way someone could assassinate Kel. He is too smart for them!" I screamed.

"I-I know. I wasn't denying it." The guard murmured to me.

I was so tempted to punch his teeth down his throat, even though he hadn't done anything wrong.

Neither did I notice the tears streaming down my face, bathing my cheeks.

"How?" I asked.

"Midna" Blade demanded. I refused to turn around.

"There is a boy that was there at the time. He has the detail." The guard pleaded with me.

"Midna." Blade hissed.

Spinning around I turned on him, staring right into his eye. Hardly anyone dared to do that.

"I will call a Court meeting instantly. Clean yourself up before joining." He muttered to me, stroking a tear off my cheek before dismissing the guard and following him out the door.

As soon as I heard them shut my hands were already at my eyes, furiously wiping them, "Stupid stupid stupid. Stupid!" I yelled at myself, taking in a shuddering breath.

How dare I, The Midnight Assassin, show such weakness in the company of men?

How dare I cry.

No. I shall attend the meeting. I will not cry.

I will hold my head high and not cry.

Counting slowly to ten I turned around, pulling up my battle pants and striding out the door.

After traveling up the stairs and taking a left into a giant circular room I gazed around. The Assassins Guild was made up out of marble, something that I enjoyed. Not inky that, but there were secret traps and doorways every. Most if which nobody knew about. Except me.

A habit I usually do, checking my surroundings.

Everyone was already seated around the oak table, murmuring quietly. All of them were older than me. I admit, 16 is a very young age to have achieved so much. But...

Kel wasn't in his usual place.

Instead there was a blonde boy. Also older then me.

About a year by the looks of it.

I could see the muscles under his skin, and I bit back my frustration when I realised he sat in Kel's seat.

I glared daggers at him, but the boy held his gaze.

Plopping down in my seat I leaned forward.

"Now that everyone is here..." Blade started. Although I could tell he wasn't being mean. "What happened?" He asked the boy.

He nodded respectably towards Blade before speaking, "I was in the village Ecan, walking a round when I saw him. I thought he was more of the kings guards, here to burn down the rest of the village and execute more people. So I fought him. He won, but told me what he was. He also told me he liked my fighting, and demanded I join him. Of course I accepted, being an orphan was difficult anyway. And two days later when I was traveling in front if him, stealing a horse which is now in the stables, I heard him tell me to run. I looked behind him and saw a sword practically stab him. But I couldn't see the owner. It was as if the sword just jumped at I'm and stabbed in through the heart. So I ran. I ran and after a while I found myself here." The boy finished off.

"Did you see who attacked him?" Asked Slash, his eyes narrowed.

The boy shook his head. "No. He didn't tell me much. I only found out he was an assassin when I saw him butcher someone." The boy spat.

"Don't you dare say that like he didn't have a choice." I growled, unable to help myself.

The boy glared at me, "He could've done something else. He didn't need to kill that man."

"Yes he did. It was his assignment. And I suggest we butcher you too, knowing exactly where to come is suspicious." I narrowed my eyes.

"No. Because he told me. Look, he was even training me up!" The boy whined.

"Of course. Because you're so great. I don't believe this nonsense. I'm leaving. And I'm bringing his body back, I'm also checking the evidence and the trail. Which you undoubtedly failed to do so." I spat, to my delight his cheeks flushed a cherry red.

"Midna... Don't jump to conclusions." Blade spoke. His eyes looking into my soul.

"No. I don't care. He obviously jumped in the way to preserve that pile of filth," I spat, pointing to the blonde boy, "And I'm going to find out who murdered him. Nobody deals with the Assassins and gets away with it."

"Or. You could be quiet and let the adults decide what to do." Hunter reasoned. His gaze shifting.

"No. I am leaving. Tonight." I started, getting up and leaving the table.

"Midna... You're being dramatic." Hunter said.

I shifted my gaze, spinning and grabbing a knife, flicking it at him as it nicked his ear and embedded itself on the wall.

"Next time you criticise me, it'll be aimed at your neck instead." I huffed, scowling at everyone at the table before heading towards the door, but not before hearing a sentence.

"What's her problem? She's worse then usual." Whisper muttered.

"She's just upset he is dead. You know how close they were."

And that's the last thing I heard before I slammed the door shut, forcing back the tears.

I walked right up to a guard, he bowed immediately, "Get my horse ready. Now." I said.

He nodded briskly and shuffled away as I turned to my room.

The servant was already in there, making my bed.

We didn't force servants to come, but we hired them. And they were trained with some practice, and trained to never utter a word of the Assassins even at the point of death.

Unfortunately I had the toughest servant alive. She was more like my mother.

"Midna. What ever is the matter?" Scarlett asked, not shifting her gaze from the pillow.

Honestly she was one of the people who could read my emotions easily.

"Kel is dead and I'm retrieving his body. I need a camping bag filled with weapons, food and other traveling supplies." I ordered, refusing to show even an ounce of emotion.

"Very well. Hop into the bath while I get the items ready." She ordered me.

"No. I need to go instantly. A bath will take too long, Scarlett."

"Go. Into. The. Bath... Now. Or I'll cut all your hair off and make you attend a royal ball, wearing an outfit from last season." She said.

I raised an eyebrow, I didn't care. I knew she would do it.

"And no sweets for a week." She added.

Now that's what scared me. I adored chocolates and lollies.

"You wouldn't dare!" I whined.

Scarlett lifted her head a tad higher, "Try me."

There was a glare off, in which she won.

Scarlett usually won.

"Okay okay I'm going!" I replied after a heap of swear words which would've given me a spanking. If I wasn't surrounded by assassins.

Storming off to the bath I shoved my clothes off and discarded them, running the hot water and jumping in, quickly washing my hair and scrubbing my body down.
