I tapped my foot impatiently.

Apparently someone was going to come 'shopping' with me.

Basically we were loading up on supples, medical equipment. Not to mention Scarlett demanded I buy a dress, my next mission is to assassinate someone at their little 'house party'. Which is basically a ball full with rich people.

Oh well. Maybe I can steal some money.

I tensed right up when I saw who I was sent to go shopping with.

"Why you? Why do I have to go with you?" I spat out the last word, levelling him up and down.

Nix was dressed in the casual attire for assassins, fighting clothes with a long sword strapped to his side. Along with a shield slung across his back, Nix's hood was up and covering his face.

"Let's get this over with." I grumbled.

Unfortunately I was dressed like a rich lady myself, making every shop extra polite and respectful to me. I guess I can thank Scarlett for that.

I wore an elegant deep blue dress that radiated across the streets, turning many heads. Along the seam of the dress, the middle where the corset was and the top were little pearls lined up with each other. I wore matching pearl earrings and a necklace.

It was quite uncomfortable, especially my waist having been crushed. I hated being a girl sometimes. Why couldn't men wear corsets?

"You look nice." Nix muttered. It wasn't in an affectionate way, it was as if he was merely stating the facts.

"Don't talk to me." I shot back, scorning.

I rounded into another shop, buying some healing potions and bandages, along with a wine bottle.

Luckily the man didn't question me, I must have looked older then I was.

"What's the wine for?" Nix asked me.

"Well. It's used in an assassins burial, showing high respect. Of course that'll never happen on your tombstone." I muttered, giving a slick smile.

"Why do you hate me so much?" Nix asked.

"Well at least you acknowledged the fact that I do. You're acting all smug and happy for getting in the Court and being trained. But you don't deserve it. You don't even deserve to be alive right now. You should've died, but no, because Kel had to go and sacrifice his life to someone like you." I huffed, walking at a brisker pace.

"I'm sorry that guy died. He saved my life." Nix attempted to sympathise.

"Yeah but that doesn't matter. Because he butchered his victim, and apparently that's not good." I spat out viciously.

"I didn't know it was his victim."

"Oh save it. You're not worth my time anyway." I growled, attempting to push ahead of him.

But curse these high heels, I couldn't sprint.

I paced into an elegant looking shop with expensive prices. It should do.

"Why are we here?" Nix demanded.

I rounded on him, "You're allowed to kindly go away. I'm here to buy an outfit for my next assassination." I hissed under my breath, making sure nobody overheard us.

"G'day luv. How may I help you?" The lady asked with such an accent, slurring the words.

I looked at her.

The worker wore a bright pink dress, white frills greeted it at the bottom. Her hair was a bunch of cascading black curls.

"Morning, I'm here to buy an outfit for a royal ball." I announced. She gave a booming smile which unnerved me.

It didn't reach her eyes.

"Well ya came do the right place!" She beamed.

"Yes I suppose. Can you please sort out a pile of dresses. I'll choose which one I fancy." I sniffed pompously, pretending I was important.

Which I was.

"Splendid. Please stay here darlin'" she hurried away, sorting through the many dresses they had.

"Not like I'm going to go anywhere." I scowled.

Nix scoffed.

I had completely forgotten he was here. "No. Shut your face. I hate you and I don't want you to react to anything funny that I say. Keep in mind I can slit your throat without a moments hesitation."

It seemed to shut him up.

After ages the maid returned, holding a stack of dresses.

I sorted through them, handing her back the ones I didn't like the look of.

"I'll try these on." I muttered, flouncing into a dressing room and instantly changing.

It took ages. Wow. This damned corset.

There was finally one left, one that I really liked the look of: it was a light blue dress with white tipped edges, reminding me of the seaside. There was a pure gold rim around the middle and along the hem.

Timidly I stepped out of the room, greeted by the worker. "Oh honey! You look lovely. Absolutely lovely. What do y'all think?" She turned to Nix who was gaping.

"Yeah. Good." He replied.

So so so tempted to just punch him.

Just because I was blessed with some flawless features didn't give anyone the right to think of me as a little girl.

I scowled, turning to the girl, "I'll take it." I muttered through clenched teeth.

"Smile dearest, you're ruinin' the dress with that frown."

"Well let it be ruined." I hissed, stampeding to the room again and removing the dress, replacing it with my own attire.

I handed it over to the lady, along with the correct amount of cash.

"Thank you." I said before stepping outside, the cool evening air kissed my skin.

"I'm guessing not many men get the honour of seeing you in such a fine outfit." Nix said.

"Oh quite the opposite. Many men do, right before I slaughter them." I hissed with malice, keeping a far distance from Nix.

"Hurry up. I don't want to ruin my reputation by being seen with you." I growled at him.
