Chapter 4: Flashback

 Flashback Chapter

The fire raged on the explosions everywhere. The earth being destroyed at every turn. We ran, away from everything trying to kill us. Maybe to find a piece of paradise. The things kept away from the city for so long had broken in. Distorted beasts with amazing powers like ours but multiplied. Flying, breathing fire, water shooting, all of that. We tried to attack them but it didn't work.

We were outnumbered, and one by one we fell, until it was just me, Olivia shooting what water I had left. Until finally I fell too.

Lauren POV

I woke up, in a room with strangers, well some of them were familiar like my twin brother Connor and some others who I remembered from the big battle. Like the girl with water powers was her name Olive or something. And the guy who could fly James I think. There were some others I knew too. We were in a dark room. A lady walked in. She looked at us and spoke.

"Hello, I am the president of the containment of creatures with mysterious powers department." She looked like she was about to say something else when a girl interrupted. She looked about 16.

"Um hey, I am a human being who can fly, I am not a creature." She said rudely.

"Well officially you are a creature because human beings can not fly, or shoot fire, or move things with their mind, et cetera. Well back to me speech, After this apocalypse that you caused. The survivors decided to lock you up to keep them safe." She paused for a second. I was infuriated I really wanted to yell at her and say we were trying to keep you alive but I bit my tongue and didn't say anything . "So what we did is lock you up in this building of arenas that you will have to face and survive through and hopefully soon all of you will be dead and we won't have to worry about you any more. Bye, and get to know each other quick because your first arena opens in an hour."

She then pointed to big golden doors that were closed. She walked away leaving us alone in a stone room that could determine my future. We all get to know each other, and our leader is determined pretty fast. This one girl named Emma or something is very serious about this, and she doesn't waste any time. We work out our strategies fast and stand in front of the wall.

When the doors open I wad terrified. It the first experience I had with this. The arena was a square and it had big obstacles blocking the exit. This looked like it would be in my house. I looked at my brother.

"This is our time to shine" we focused our eyes and brains on the big log in front of us. I counted down

" 3.....2.....1.....now". We worked together to lift the log and moved it to the side. I saw a wall of ice. I didn't think that I could lift it. The people with fire powers walked up. I'm gonna call them flames. They focused their hands and the fire burned a hole through the ice. Emma looked freaked out when the ice spread out and she was standing on it. I don't know maybe she is afraid of ice or something.

After the flames it proceeded like this, everyone got their own things. I think this was a practice arena or something like that. That explains it easiness.
