Chapter Two

I finally gave in and wore the top that Monica wanted me to wear. It is a black lace button up shirt that shows a lot of skin. She wouldn't allow me to wear anything under it except a black corset bra that she claimed came with it. I am a little uncomfortable, but everyone says that I look really nice in a sexy way.

When we get to the bonfire everyone is sitting around relaxing and drinking beer. No one appeared to be drunk thankfully. You ready for this Lucas?

I was born ready for this Emmy. I bet you weren't expecting so many people to show up. I knew they would. The help you gave me and all the other kids is amazing. You have so much love inside you and you are willing to share it with the world. I never knew what someone caring and loving me was like until I met you and it is the same for a lot of the teens who are in your program. Come on let's go win them over like you only you can do.

We walk over and try to get everyone's attention without any success. I let out a piercing whistle, and it was suddenly very quiet, and everyone is staring at me.

My name is Emmaline Waters. I want to thank everyone for allowing me to speak to you about something near and dear to my heart. I started Music for Teens five years ago it started out as a way to help my daughter through a very hard time. We have been running the program on local donations and support. We are hoping by setting up a booth on this tour that we can get the exposure and the support to set this program up in every state. I just need your help in getting the support I need so that I can do that. I have a website that tells everything about my program, but if anyone has any questions for me I am going to grab a beer and have a seat if no one minds. I am also going to pass out my card it has my e-mail address and my phone number I would welcome any and all questions feel free to get in touch with me at any time.

Vic brings me a beer and leads me over to a chair. We have been talking to several people who seem to be interested in volunteering for the songwriting class.

I really appreciate everything you and Kellin are doing. I never suspected that I would get this much interest in my program.

Excuse me Vic I have a question for Miss Waters.

I just wanted to know more about your program. How exactly it works.

We teach them how to focus all there feelings through music. They also get one on one session's with a counselor. We teach them how to read and write music. We also give them the opportunity to write their feelings out in music form. We give them the opportunity to write songs and try to understand how they feel and maybe learn why. We have group sessions which I head and talk about whatever is on our minds. They learn how to open up and get everything out in the open. Then we work on how to deal with those feelings one day at a time. It sometimes is a long process. I let them know they have people who care about them and are willing to do anything to help them. I love all of these kids like they are my own.

They are very lucky to have you. I want to help in anyway I can.

I would like to be able to meet them one day too. All your kids seem to be very talented.

Some of our most talented are the most troubled. We try our best to help them and make sure they stay on the path needed to get where they want to go. Drugs and alcohol seems to be the chosen way to deal with their feelings. We have to get them clean and teach them how to deal with the feelings in a healthy way.
