Its been a month now since we got the news that Summer only had 2months which now leaves us with 1 month left with her. Jack and mum left a week after we got the news and Jake occasionally pops in from work, but he does work long hours. Ive been staying in the hotel about five minutes away from the hospital so I'm close by if anything happens in the night and i have to rush to the hospital. Things aren't improving at all, its true Summer is drying every morning when i walk into her room her skin looks paler, her hands colder and her hair has lost its vibrant blonde, her body is slowly shutting down. There still hasn't been a liver which has came up from a different hospital and we are now running out of time ver quickly. Luckily she hasn't had a bleed yet but there is still a month left and anything can happen.
The nurse came in to change Summers pack on her liver which means her robe has to be lifted up to show the pack. I haven't seen it before but today was the first. The nurse lifted her hospital gown up and Summers body changed so much since the last time i saw. she was so much skinnier even worse than usual she had nothing there just bone, i knew she was anorexic due to the liver disease but this is terrible, her stomach was also yellow from the liver shutting down. Summer now got moved to the top of the list for a liver because of her age and how quickly her body is shutting of.
I decided to go down to the cafe and get a hot drink and some lunch to take back up to the ward like i have been doing everyday for the past month but It was a big mistake for me to leave Summer, I just got back onto the ward and all of a sudden all the blinkers started to go of on Summers machines, all the nurses and doctors went running in with machines and so did I got pushed out the way so they could save her, i heard parts of it like "her livers failed and its stoped pumping blood weened to get her into theatre ASAP" within minutes they stoped what they were doing and ran the bed down the hall into theatre, i knew that was the last time i was going to see her.

After that i was pacing around the room thinking of the most worse outcomes of this situations until 2 nurses ran out of theatre and i tried to stop them to ask what the hell was going on but they didn't stop they ran past me swinging the doors wide open, 2 minutes later the entrance doors whacked wide open and their was a box on a stretcher with the same nurses running down the corridor with it. their was 2 doctors after followed all in scrubs talking about a new liver. The nurse came into the room and told me they found a liver so Summer was going to live, her liver was going to get repaired. I didn't know what to do i was so overwhelmed and happy i started of Phoning Kate.

oh Conor thats brilliant news I'm so happy, so whats happening now?

well 10 minutes before the liver was available she had a bleed and got rushed down to theatre to try and reposer her liver, then the new liver came bashing through the doors on a stretcher and headed straight to theatre and the nurse told me it was just in time because if there was no liver she would of died in the next week.

After that i phoned up Jack, Jake and my mum, i didn't even care if they were at work this is the best news, now we just have to wait for her to come out of theatre and wake up from the coma.
I wanted to wait till she came back from theatre before i headed back to the hotel for bed. The nurses wheeled the bed back at 9.30pm it took 11 hours in theatre, there was some complications like having a few more bleeds, but they have decided to take the line out for a bit to give it some time to heal over and help repair the liver. They said it will be fine but in half a years time she would need it back it to help drain the fluid.
Summer started to look so much better after she came out of theatre her skin was less pale and less cold. This was it she was getting better, she just only had to come out of the coma unharmed and then we can get on with our lives. I decided to stay the night on the chair just to make sure Summer was going to be okay thought the night and that she doesn't have any more bleeds or complications with having a new liver.
I was still awake just thinking about all the bad that could of happened to Summer if she didn't get this liver and how much pain and struggle she would of had to gone through for another month whilst her body was still shutting down, but i do feel sorry for the family and friends who's donor died to give Summer another chance at life, when they couldn't be helped. But the whole situation of Summer has inspired me to become a donor if something happened to me and i died then someone else can have my organs to have a second chance of life...
