Rose Water

I filled the tub up with warm water

My cold, numb feet tingling when I stepped in.

I let the water rise, until it could go no farther.

I could feel the tears in my eyes, as I prepared for what was to come.

I picked up the blade

I ran it down my arm, at first leaving a shallow mark on my skin.

I traced over it, pushing deeper into my vein.

The red seeped out, splashing into the water.

Blood dropped from both my wrists,

Turning the warm, comforting, clear water

Into a red abyss.

I reached for the pills,

And poured them into my hand, knowing it was a sin.

I tilted my head back

And swallowed each pill one by one.

I could feel them traveling down my throat

As I slit my arms and thighs both.

The water is red,

As rich as the blood on my numbed arm's skin.

For a while as I looked down,

All I saw was red.

But now,

I see none.

I feel myself drifting away,

The dizziness, nausea, and headache kicking in.

My eyes were closed

And I knew that this was the only way for me to win.

I let myself fall lower into the red water,

The water was cold, and the color of a dark rose.

I let myself fall into the darkness,

I fell with no harness.

I let my life fade away,

I will not be awake for another day.
