Bellow The Surface [DISCONTINUED(Rewritten)]

Chapter 6. Bad Dream

It has been about three days since the two had been staying in the purple house just on the other side of the ruins where they fell, happily living there but starting to run low on food and water.

"I..... guess..." Adrien said, responding to his sisters lecture of talking to strangers, before walking over to his sister and into the house.

Shadow could see the faint outline of the now familliar fireplace and candles. "Hmm..." Shadow thought about how different this place was compared to the other spots of the ruins.... a lot eerier, that's the feeling she always got when she came here with the fire gone. Shadow imedinatly went to bedroom and ushered Adrien into here. "Time for bed." Shadow said to him, looking at the clock, that read 11:46pm

"Do I have to?" Adrien asked in protest, already knowing the answer.

"Yes, Adrien!" Shadow she said, tucking him into the red and pink blanket and into bed. She then sat with her legs crossed and began hum a song to help him sleep.

Once her brother was soundlessly asleep in his bed Shadow stood up and walked out if the room and to the one just next store. It was blue so it fit her well, since she liked blue and all.

During the last minutes of the night Shadow was suddenly woken up by a cry, she quickly grabbed and put on her gray jacket with white fluff inside and straight to her brothers room to see him sitting up and crying. Shadow, on instinct, sat down by him and tightly hugged him, keeping Adrien close to her chest while swaying lightly. Once he'd almost completely stopped crying Shadow pulled away and kept swaying. "What's wrong?" She asked, concern and worry built up in her eyes.

Adruen wiped the tears form his right eye and said in an ever shakey voice full of fear and sorrow. "I-I-I h-had a-a b-ba-bad dr-dream." He stammers, and throws himself into her.

"A-aw! Brother! It's okay, it's okay." Shadow says trying to calm him down. "Mind telling me what it was about?" She asks, rubbing his back.

Adrien nods his head and looks off to the side. "Th-there was this kid... with brown short hair and t-th-they were wearing a green sweater with one yellow stripe on it, th-they also had a g-gold locket...-sniffle- A-and there was this... this monster, h-he had bl-black wings and h-he was holding the h-human.... Th-they were surrounded by the flowers th-that w-we fel-fell in." Adrien sniffles once more, still crying. "H-he ha-had a m-m-matching locket a-around hi-his neck -sniffle-."

Shadow continued to rub her brothers back. "I don't see what's so wrong with that?" She says, humming a bit.

"Th-that i-isn't t-th-the sc-scary part... the monster... he... he turned to dust while he was holding the kid... a-and the human g-got up a-and r-ran at y-you.... a-and stabbed you w-wi-with a kn-knife a-a-and th-then ran a-at m-m-ne!!!" Adrien wailed, turning his head to sob into her sisters jacket again.

When she had heard the monster turned to dust she froze all at once. It was bad enough her brother had a nightmare like the ones she had... but now someone was threatening her brother. "Shhhh.... It's okay, remember... as long as I'm here, no one will hurt you. No one will will touch you..." Shadow started to sing while rubbing his back. "Cuz you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take, my sunshine away." Shadow hummed the rest.
