I woke with a start, I was panting heavily. Almost like Piret my dog who was sitting next to me. That must be a dream. I put my hand to my head and wiped sweat from it. I patted Piret on the head and he returned with a lovely, wet kiss. I giggled and cuddled him. My attention was drawn to the calendar on my desk in the corner of the room. Today's date was 1st July. Maybe fighting the dragon was a dream. My head span and I had a nasty gash on my arm. Confused, I tumbled out of bed and wrestled into my armor. My friends will be waiting. Alice, my best friend, had helped me polish it ,till it shined like the sun, last night. Maybe? I crept through the lonely hallway, trying not to wake any children who were sleeping soundly in the comfort of their beds. Through the village friendly faces smiled as they set up their market stalls. I raced up to the battle ground were my comrades were armed and ready. I wasn't late, gladly.
I looked at the dull surroundings and noticed the cloud partings. Just before you hit the boundary's of the village the clouds flow past like water streaming round a rock. We were waiting for about ten minutes before we felt a strong gust of wind and a thunderous shake and there before us stood the mighty beast. It bounded towards us, roaring. We jumped to our feet and drew our swords. It span round and swiped Tiffany and I to the ground. I got up and dusted myself of. I was furious! No one hurts me or my friends and gets away with it! I shouted to John to slice it's scales so we could do some real damage. John was good at dogging attacks but the terrifying beast was better. I drove my sword at it's head but it was too quick. We battled bravely but it was too strong for us. I desperately searched for a weak spot. I notice it's lower legs didn't seem to have scales, but his head and tail were being lashed round wildly. It took a run up and dived onto the floor just skimming under it's tail. I slashed at his bare legs. He roared in pain and one swish of it's tail sent me fly through the air. I leapt up and with a cry of fury, swung my blade at it's tail. He coiled it around me like a snake and brought me to his face. He started deeply into my burning eyes. I had a curious feeling like it was looking into my soul, watching my past. Everything seemed to stop around me as memories flooded my mind.
Things went brighter and brighter but I wasn't going to let it overpower me again. I punched it on the nose and it let out a low growled. It dropped me to the floor. I started feeling an extreme stabbing pain in the end of my fingers. It swept the floor with it's tail again. I jumped and grabbed onto his tail. My plan was to climb up and stab it but as I grabbed on my nails dug in and I found they were stuck. The beast waved his tail around with me clinging on furiously. I gasped at the sight my nail. I was sure I was hallucinating because of how dizzy I was until I looked down at my feet which were the same. I gazed closer; what was happening to me? Surely I wasn't dreaming? I started think there was something wrong with me.
Suddenly as quickly as it arrived the beast swept up into the air with a blood curdling roar and was gone. I looked at and my hands and they were perfectly normal. My eyes must have been playing tricks on me but I had a nagging feeling I wasn't wrong. If I'm honest I felt a little scared. I looked round at my comrades staring at me astonished. They looked around " There was TWO!?!"
John looked at Tiffany "But were did the second one come from and were did it go!? i didn't even see it arrive!"
Tiffany "Me neither! Why the sudden exit as well!?"
Jacklin stumbled over her jaw dropped "Tell me it wasn't just me who saw that!"
Barney ,looking dazed, rubbed his eyes and stared at the others, " No, it wasn't just you Jack."I stood frozen for what felt like ages. "Huh... I didn't see a second one. Were was it?"
Barney explained "I saw you grab its tale and it was throwing you. I couldn't get close enough to help. It happening so fast. Then next thing I could see was a second one."
My mind whirled. Nothing could be processed. I felt blank. I had no recollection of another. My mind buzzed as a sinking feeling hit me. My memories were put together to make something horrible. I realised that what I saw on my hands were... claws. What if... I was stopped in my thoughts as I heard a clash of armor and and Barney call for a hand as he had just dropped his sword and had no free hands. We all giggled.
