(Y/N)'s Point of View
The morning was calm and quiet, the polar opposite of the York New atmosphere. Despite the early hour, people filled the streets. Their words echoed throughout the air, filling the city with vibrant energy. York New was simply alive...
... which is ironic considering the fact that I was so tired I felt as if I was deceased.
A small sigh escaped my lips as I found myself walking in no particular direction throughout the winding city streets. Fatigue was the enemy I must overcome. If I stopped to rest now, I might be caught. I could not allow that to happen. My pace quickened from a slow walk to a brisk step.
I listened intently to the waves of people passing beside me. Prior to escaping, I was already aware that the hunter exam would be happening soon. Perhaps someone here would know something about it, and happen to let valuable information slip from their mouth.
I continued to wander throughout the city. The sun slowly but surely increased its dominion over the sky, as exhaustion slowly but surely increased its dominion over my body. By midday, I had heard nothing about the exam. I became more and more worried. What would happen if I couldn't find the exam? Even worse, what would happen if I myself was found by my father?
Suddenly, my thoughts halted. I listened intently, attempting to conceal my presence as to eavesdrop to the best of my abilities.
"So, are you gonna take the hunter exam again?" asked a woman in an annoyed tone.
"Of course I'm going to, who would I be if I didn't? After all, this will be my 34th attempt."
"34 attempts?!" I thought to yourself. How could anyone take the exam that many times and not pass? You examine the man. He had brown hair. He was short in stature. He didn't seem to be very athletic. He may not be a hunter, but I was sure that I could use the situation to my advantage. All I would have to do is follow him.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the man laughed maniacally. Out of his rucksack emerged a small, orange colored can. He popped the drink open, and it fizzed slightly. Soda.
"See this?" The man grinned, pointing a stubby finger towards the drink. "This may look like a normal soda, but it is so much more than that. This, my friend, is a top grade laxative!" Once again, the man paused to express a maniacal chuckle. "I'm gonna take out all the rookies with these! They'll be in the bathroom so long, they won't even realize that the exam will have started!"
The woman accompanying him raised her eyebrows quizzically, questioning his... untraditional motives. "Whatever you say. Guess you have a reputation to keep up, Tonpa the Rookie Crusher."
I made note of the unnamed woman's words. As a rookie myself, I would have to be careful of the man, Tonpa, despite his incompetence when it came to actually passing the exam.
"Well, I'll be off." The man stated with a wave to his companion. "I have to meet with the Delin navigators. I met them back at my 20th exam, and ever since then, they've been helping me find the exam site!" He looked at the woman in anticipation. She glared back at him, unimpressed.
The two split, and I followed behind Tonpa, keeping just enough distance so that I could remain unseen, yet nearby. My energy was restored by the idea of actually going to the exam. I was so close. If I could trail this man, I was certain that I could make it to the location of the exam!
