Nearly three hours later, a groan escaped Rebekah and Elijah's corpses. As they stood up and readjusted their cracked spines, they noticed the two motionless bodies lying on the floor. The two originals stood in shock for a grueling moment, until Rebekah's phone started to ring.
"What?" Rebekah seethed, seeing the name 'Klaus' pop up.
"Little sister! Good news, the witches have just informed me that they will be supporting me in my inevitable rise to power," Klaus gloated before continuing. "All it took was the life of one very powerful little witch's life, and the deal was sealed."
Rebekah stood stunned, all she felt an indescribable anger. "You have got to be kidding me, Nik. She's just a child. You traded a child's life for a petty play for power. You know, out of everything you've ever done over the 1000 years we've been alive, this is by far the worst," Rebekah shouted as she ended the call.
Elijah placed a hand on his sister's shoulder. All of a sudden, a loud gasp emerged from where Remi's once seemingly lifeless body was. Elijah and Rebekah sighed in relief and immediately rushed over to the girl, watching in saddened expressions as Remi turned to her side and saw her aunt's limp figure, still tied to the chair that the witches restrained her with. It was truly a horror movie.
Remi inched closer to Amelia and cried. "Amelia, Amelia! No... please. Wake up! Don't leave me alone.... please! Please, please don't leave me alone," she pleaded in between sobs, desperately shaking her aunt's body.
All the two Mikaelsons could do was watch as Remi cried out in anguish over the loss of her last living family member. Rebekah kneeled down next to her and slowly wrapped her arms around the girl, making sure to turn her head away from her aunt. Remi hesitantly leaned into the vampire's embrace as she continued to sob. This couldn't be happening, it couldn't. But deep down, Remi knew that she was alone, and it was her own fault.
Elijah looked down as he shook his head in disgust of his brother's actions. Remi didn't deserve this. "I'll go inform Marcel," he whispered lowly, and quietly sped out of the apartment.
Rebekah, surprising even herself, stayed on the floor next to Remi and let the girl cry until she there were none left. She was empty.

Elijah marched into the abattoir and saw Niklaus sitting at the rather large dining table with a glass of Scotch in his hand.
"Brother, so good of you to show up. Scotch?" Klaus mused, standing up and walking over to the tray of alcohol.
"How can you offer me a drink when you have just sentenced a girl to death, " Elijah asked with contempt, astounded by his brother's lack of remorse.
"We have gained much more from her death than anyone would have if she had lived. You should be celebrating!" Klaus yelled in response, and Elijah simply shook his head.
"I will not celebrate the attempted murder of a 16 year old, Niklaus. I never thought even you would sink that low. As we speak, Rebekah is on the floor consoling a child who just awoke to see that her aunt was murdered. That does not call for celebratory alcohol," Elijah snarled, turning around and storming out of the abattoir.
Niklaus stood in shock at the words he just heard: she's alive?

After Elijah left, he headed to Marcel's compound to inform him of what had happened, which he was not looking forward to. In the very short amount of time that he spent with Remi, Elijah sensed that Marcel was very protective over her, and now it was clear as to why.
