When the Mikaelsons finally arrived back in New Orleans after the eventful day in Georgia, they parked the car a few blocks away from the abattoir and one by one exited the car.
"Rebekah, take Remi and let her rest in her room. I'm off to fetch Marcel. I assume he'd want an update on Elizabeth and the wolves," Klaus said and sped off in the direction of Marcel's loft.
Rebekah gently carried Remi from the car to the abattoir with Elijah and Freya beside her. It was unusually quiet for a 12am night in the French Quarter which kicked in the Mikaelsons' protective instincts. Rebekah held Remi tighter while Elijah and Freya moved in closer to her side as they eyed their surroundings. One can never be too careful, especially when their main priority is protecting a very mortal teenage girl whom they've all come to not particularly dread, unlike pretty much everyone else they've crossed paths with over the past 1,000 years.
Rebekah brought Remi up to the girl's room and placed her on her bed, careful not to wake her. She then sped back downstairs and plopped down onto a sofa in the courtyard along with Elijah and Freya.
"Well that was one hell of a rollercoaster," Rebekah sighed as she propped her feet up on the coffee table.
"At least that dreadful wench Elizabeth is long gone and the wolves are safe," Elijah said as he looked down at his wristwatch. "I'd give Remi another six or seven hours until we wake her."
"Make it eight, she really needs all the sleep she can get," Freya replied honestly.
Klaus returned soon after with Marcel close behind. "How is she?" a somewhat worrisome Klaus asked, but he would never verbally admit it of course.
"She's upstairs, still sleeping," Rebekah replied.
"Marcellus, you are welcome to stay here for the time being until she wakes," Elijah said, noticing that Marcel seemed antsy.
"I only have a few hours before rogue nightwalkers start wanting to eat tourists, but I can stay for a while," he replied
"Hows that friend of hers- Sawyer I think?" Marcel asked after a few seconds of silence.
"He's just fine, out on the prowl with his vexatious family while still in Georgia I presume," Klaus said smugly.
"Thats not what he meant, Nik," Rebekah corrected, knowing Marcel was asking if he was 'good enough' for Remi with his usual fatherly instincts kicking in.
"He seems like good kid. Shy, respectful; he seems to really like her," Freya replied and both Elijah and Rebekah nodded in agreement.
"Well I for one do not trust him. Teenagers these days are anything but reliable and as of now we do not know his intentions, so he has been put on my do-not-trust list," Klaus said matter-of-factly and moved to pour him and Marcel a glass of mystery alcohol.
"Brother, if I am not mistaken I remember a time when even Remi herself was on that list," Elijah said and raised his eyebrows.
"As were you, Elijah, but she has since proven her loyalty time and time again. Once Sawyer can show me that he is not a threat, then and only then will I consider calling him an acquaintance."
"How noble of you," Rebekah replied sarcastically.
The Mikaelsons fell silent for a moment but turned their heads towards Marcel after noticing the grin on his face.
