Will Solace followed his boyfriend, Nico di Angelo, into their apartment. It was the former's birthday, and he'd been promised a wonderful present.
Nico gently prodded Will in the spot above the strip of his grey binder, that showed due to his tank top, to guide him through the door.
"There's a surprise for you upstairs.."
Will smiled happily and dashed to their bedroom, like an excited child at Christmas. Nico sighed, and chased his dorky, yet adorable, boyfriend.
The blonde man was waiting outside the door, grinning from ear to ear. Nico shook his head and led him inside.
On the pale blue duvet of their shared bed was a large cardboard box. Will's face turned to confusion.
"Open it, then! I-I, uh, hope you like h-it. I d-didn't know if it was the right idea, b-" Will cut him off with a kiss. "I'm sure it'll be perfect."
The birthday boy excitedly tore open the lid. Will's face was alive with emotions, eyes blazing in adoration, and a gasp escaped his lips.
"Oh my gods..." he whispered. Inside the box was a beautiful black puppy with a white splash on its forehead. Will wrapped his arms around her and lifted him up. The animal's gorgeous chocolate-brown eyes stared into his blue ones, and, with a bright pink tongue, licked his cheek.
Nico giggled at Will's reaction. "So, good present?" he asked with a lazy smile.
"The best!" his boyfriend exclaimed, pulling Nico in for another kiss, the dog squashed between them.
"I love you..."
"Uh, Will? Are you talking to me or the puppy?" Nico said, laughing.
"Both of you! My emo boys," he joked.
Nico suppressed a smile and sighed. "I guess you should call him Gerard Way, then."
