It was a normal day. A fight went down on the bus, a kid got pushed into a locker, someone's yelling swear words. A normal day.
I'm just chilling in science, working on my DSR, talking to my unbiological sister, Emily, before the first bell rang.
"HEY, BESTIE!" Jake's voice filled my small bubble of space in the classroom.
"Please don't call me that." I said sternly, keeping my eyes on my DSR.
"Okay, Megan."
"Not that either." I raised my pencil in the air.
"TAY!" Jackson's voice filled the opposite side of my bubble of space.
How he holds out the last syllable of my nickname drives me more mental than I already am.
"Hey." I said in the same unenthusiastic voice I was talking to Jake in.
Then the bell rang, and Jake went to talk to Bri, and Emily went back to her table.
Class went on, everything was fine.
Until I ran into the two arguing in between lunch and the second half of 4th hour.
"WELL WHAT IF I WANT TO DATE HER!"
"WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO? SHE HATES YOU!"
"SHE HATES YOU TOO! YOU ALWAYS CALL HER "BESTIE" EVEN WHEN SHE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO!"
"YOU DON'T STOP CALLING HER TAYYYYYYYYYY!" He yelled, mocking Jackson's obnoxious greeting to me.
Being the slightly sassy girl I am, I walked right up to the conversation.
"You know? Stop worrying about it." My voice came into the equation. "Before you ask: no and no, and yes, I hate you both." I say before walking back into my math classroom to finish off the hour.
