My heart skips a beat as I pull into the driveway of my new home. I was adopted by a couple in the new pack I'm joining. Neither of the women could have a baby. Something about having bad ovaries and wanting to adopt. I step out of my pick-up only to be tackle hugged by a flurry of colors and long brown hair. I looked down a bit to see a slender face smiling up at me.
"Are you our Salem?" The brunette asked. Her voice is as sweet as honey. "In the flesh." I replied with a gentle smile. She let me go and grabs my hand, leading me inside to see the house was decorated in light vintage styled things. Just then another sweet voice from the kitchen called out to us. "Sia, my love, is Salem here yet?" Sia giggles and calls back to her, "Yes and he has the most darling strawberry blonde hair."
Then I was gently hugged by a woman only 4 or so inches taller than me. She has a large mass of curly blonde hair, held back by a plain white bandana. The woman has bits of flour on her cheek and apron. "He is so cute!" The blonde takes a bit to look at me thoroughly, pushing my own curls out of my face.
"Hello dear, I'm Rosalie and I was wondering. Do you, by chance, like to cook or bake? If not we can find something that you like to do." Rosalie asked politely. "I like to bake!" She did a little happy dance. Sia taps my shoulder and smiles sweetly,, "How old are you and when is your birthday? It completely slipped my mind, I was just so excited that someone came up for adoption. I completely forgotten that section of the documents." I thought about it, then it hit me like a bus.
My birthday is Saturday. I look at them nervously. I didn't want to be kicked out just yet. "I'm 17 and my birthday is on Saturday." They just looked at me and smiled adoringly. "We know what to do if you go into heat or anything. But, if you find your mate, we can try to hide you from him or her. It won't be easy." I let the breath, I didn't even know I was holding, escape my pink lips.
Then my old bag broke. All my sketch books and pallets fell from my bag and onto the floor. I groan and kneel to the floor and started to get all my stuff off the floor. I had about four sketch books and pallets in my tiny bag. The trusty bag was old anyhow.
"Sorry, we should have shown you to your room already. Let's go and get you settled in." I gathered up my various items in my arms and followed her up the stairs to the white doored room. It was a decent sized room. It had everything that I needed in it. I turned and gave Sia and Rosalie a big hug and a few tears slipped from my eyes quietly. After a few minutes I broke the comfortable silence.
"I'm going to get the rest of my things out of the truck and get settled in. I'll talk to you when I'm done." They turned to leave but Sia called over her shoulder, "Don't stay up too late, we're going shopping tomorrow for you some school clothes and supplies. We know how important school is." I smiled at my new mom and momma.
I started to bring my things in one box at a time. By the I finished getting all my stuff in and unpacked, it was 11:49. My new mothers would be asleep by now. I quietly changed into my shorts and tank top that has a cute little design on it. I sank down into my thick white comforters after turning the lights out and switching a night-light on.
Then I quickly fall asleep.
((This is the first chapter of my editing of darling Salem's story. I may add chapters later on. Stay tuned.
