Silence, I allowed myself to get lost in the silence of the ocean wrapping my arms around my legs, matching my breaths to the gentle rocking of the boat. Trixster just had to be okay, he is not one of the seals that they found dead, and he had to have been the one that killed them in order to protect me. Wishing I knew what had become of him I lost myself in thought.
“Baby girl we are back at the shore, are you ready to go talk to Rictor? If you need more time I am sure that Papa can talk them into letting you have your space.”
“No Mama I need to know what happened while I was down there. I have to know that Trixster is safe, and convince all of them that he is good. Are you and Papa going to come with me?”
“Baby I am not sure that we would be welcome, after all I am only human.”
“Mama, you are my mother plain and simple, if anyone of those sea monsters does not like you there than I will pull the princess card; I promise you that if I want you to go to Atlantis with me not even all of the demons of hell could stop me.”
“Emilae! I will not hear you talk like that young lady. If we are not welcome then so, be it. This is your new family now, I just have got to get used to it.”
Slipping my arm through Mama’s my whole demeanor relaxed. She was a firecracker, all my time growing up I had never ever wondered if I would have my parents support. Mama was at every event, every conference, and every single meeting regarding her rebellious daughter. You would have thought that the eighth time I got into a fight she would have punished me, nope not my Mama. My Mama well she would go toe to toe with anyone who dare proclaim her daughter as anything short of a saint, her entire 120lb 5’3 frame was terrifying when she wanted it to be. That was my Mama, the fierce mother bear protecting her cub. I loved her, and would not have anyone else standing by my side.
Perfect, I was ready to face these teachers the moment that Papas large hand came to rest on my shoulder. Now I had my fierce Mama bear, and my proud Papa. My cave was daunting, knowing that inside awaited the beings that were meant to help me accomplish my destiny. I was prepared for them and well armed with love, nonetheless, I was still a tad bit nervous.
“Darling are you sure you want to do this, we could wait until the morning. Those monsters won’t scare me away. Have you ever known me to back down from a fight when it came to you?”
“Nope Papa not once have you backed down, but next time I am being chased by a shark can you let me handle it, now that I am the princess of the sea.”
“Hey that shark was after my baby was I supposed to let him eat you?”
“No Papa but you know, a harpoon is a whole lot more effective than a net, and you won’t lose anymore limbs.”
“I like having only three fingers young lady it gives me character.”
“Right Papa character, I distinctly remember Mama telling me that it was a reminder to use your head.”
“You win you win! Little ladies you guys win.”
Our laughter boomed around the cave as we entered the first corridor, we had to climb a little ways to get to the second chamber. I never used the second chamber because it was so difficult to get to, and it tended to fill most of the way up even during low tide. Mama said that at least half of my teachers needed to stay in the water so it was the safest option. It also allowed Rictor and Sanshea to be in all parts of my teachings as well.
“Your Highness, how are you feeling?”
“I am doing fine, I have a lot of questions but I feel okay. I already told you that there is no need to be so formal my name is Emilae.”
