Chapter 13- Research

The computer hummed with life. Clicking on links that looked as if it held information my eyes squinted. Useless facts and myths on werewolves ranging from turning only on the full moon to the fact we had mates.

Grunting in frustration, I closed out of the window and pushed away from the computer.

 

‘Come on there has to be something in here’ I thought

Walking up and down the aisles of the library, I was just about to give up when a book with silver lining glinting in the fluorescent light caught my attention.

Pausing I read the spine of the book. My breathing hitched.

The Legend of the Silver Wolf

 

‘Humph, that’s  convenient.’

 

 

My fingers trailed over the black words along the book’s spine. They were warm- almost as if they were calling out to me. Pulling the book out from the shelve I blew the dust off the cover.

My eyes widened and I covered my mouth with my free hand. On the cover was a picture of…..me. Well, me in wolf form. The same shade of silver, the same eyes, the same snout, but a different glint in the eyes- a dangerous glint.

Moving towards the very back of the library I sat an empty table. I placed the book in front of me and with shaky hands and wide eyes I opened the book.

The book was cut up into two sections; the history and the prophecy. I went straight to the prophecy. I needed to know.

I read through the lines of the silver printed words into the yellow with age paper.

 

 

Born from black and white

Will come silver

A life full of despair

An inevitable fate

 

One family

  Two loves

All will break her

 

Broken once with death

Broken a second time with abuse

And finally broken a third time with betrayal

A monster will emerge
