They didn't wake Thomas up in an hour, despite the worry that had settled uncomfortably in their stomachs, as they knew that an exhausted Thomas would be unable to summon Anxiety no matter what. After three hours, Patton woke Roman up and they quietly went downstairs to discus what had happened and sort through their memories.
"We just left him," Roman said as soon as he reached the living room. Logan smiled at him in greeting before gesturing to the couch, it would be a long discussion before they woke Thomas up. None of them where mentally prepared for it, Logan set an alarm to tell them to wake Thomas up in an hour.
"We didn't have a choice kiddo, but we're going to get him back. Okay?" Patton said as he took Romans hand in his own, silently reassuring the anxious royal further. Roman siled at his before letting out a soft sigh and leaning into the couch.
"It hasn't even been five minutes since I woke up and I'm already exhausted," Roman said before rubbing his eyes with his free hand, he tried to smile back at Logan when the other gave him a sympathetic one yet it turned out more as a grimace.
"That's okay, would you like to go back to bed?" Logan asked gently, somehow displaying more emotions in that sentence than he had since his creation. It reassured him as much as it concerned him.
"No, I don't think I can go back to bed without knowing what is happening to Virgil.." he said with another sigh.
"I think I prefer not knowing," Patton whispered, his voice dripping with so much sadness Roman wondered how a puddle hadn't formed under him.
"What?" Logan asked before Prince could, his voice laced with a thin layer of shock as he tried to appear like his unemotional self again. No one pointed it out, they knew it wouldn't help him if they did so.
"If I knew what was happening, even if he wasn't being hurt which I hope he isn't being, then I would be too worried and nauseous to think of a way to help him," he explained, tears poring down his face.
"Oh... but doesn't the not-knowing make it worse for you?" Prince asked, still slightly confused.
"I.. if I don't know what's happening then I can still hope that he is unharmed, even if I know that isn't true..."
The alarm went off and Logan smiled before offering to wake the host up, when he returned with the host in toe they all looked at each other.
"So... should I summon him the now?"
"Ye-"
"No! We should move the table so that if he is too injured to stand he will not hurt himself by banging into the table," Logan rushed out, silently apologizing to Patton for talking over him.
"Yeah... of course. Thomas will you help me move the table? Patton grab the first aid kit... just to be safe..." Roman muttered before lifting up the table with some help from Thomas whilst Patton ran to get the first aid kit and some how returned in under a minute.
"Now we can summon him.... right?" Thomas asked again, his voice and posture told everyone that he was far more worried now than he had been previously.
No one verbally replied, instead they nodded and held their breath whilst Thomas summoned Virgil... and he appeared, laying in the middle if the floor.
He spat blood onto the carpet before flinching back at the sight of them.
"No, nononono. I'm sorry, oh god, I'm sorry sir!" He screeched, blood dripping from his split lips. The others gasped at sight of him; with two black eyes, various bruises and a lot of cuts littered all over his visible skin he looked like he had been through hell... and he probably had.
"Anx, please. It's us, it's us," Patton sobbed, what had that monster done?
"No it isn't. He's... you're tricking me again. Stop it, please." The youngest whimpered before shielding his head with his bloody hands, that where partially covered by his torn and stained hoodie.
"It's us, please. Come on Emo Nightmare, just... please," Prince whispered hopelessly, silently asking the others for help but Thomas was frozen and Logan was trying to get closer to the terrified side in order to clean and bandage his wounds.
"You... he... Romans the only one that calls me that..." Anxiety whispered in confusion. "What's my name?"
"We don't know your name," Logan said as he carefully took one of Anxiety's hands and started cleaning the wounds and blood from them.
"Then... you really aren't him."
"We really, really, aren't him," Patton said softly as he wiped his face of the tears he had previously been crying.
"Is this why you didn't tell us you're name? In case something like this happened?" Roman asked as he sat on the floor, close to Anxiety yet still giving him his personal space.
"Uh.... no? I didn't tell you my name because I didn't really believe you weren't Depression at first and then I got so used to being 'Anxiety' that it felt wrong, " he explained, biting his nails on the hand that Logan wasn't currently patching up.
"Oh... well you can tell us where you're ready kiddo!"
"Yeah, thanks for... getting me out of there, but I think I'm gonna pass out in a second."
