I love you, Connor

Just wanted to show you how good this song is. Her whole album is amazing but this is by far my favorite. Lmk what you think k thanks back to the story.

The irritating beeping of my alarm clock pulls me out of my dreams at 6:00. Reluctantly, I throw back my covers and stand up. When I pull open my curtains, I see small white snowflakes falling from the sky, covering the ground. I sigh, pull on a long sleeve shirt and jeans, and head out of my room to get ready.

It's our first day back from Holiday break. I'm not dreading walking into those big double doors anymore. A month after the "incident" in October, things calmed down. And Samantha asked me out, so I have a girlfriend now. We've been together for almost two months now. Aiden is still not talking to me, not that I would want him to anyway, but the rest of the group accepted me back with open arms. And being with Sam has calmed the gay rumors.

"Hey Connor," Sam chirps happily, leaning on my shoulder.

"Hey, Sam! How was your break?" I ask, smiling at her as we both walk towards our lockers.

As she starts telling me about her family vacation, we turn the corner. At the other end of the hall, I see Ethan. Suddenly, I find myself putting my arm around Sam. She smiles sweetly at me and puts her head on my shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him look at us, then look back at the ground, his face turning red.

I honestly hope I made him jealous, or something like that. He could have ruined my high school career, and he didn't even apologize. He didn't even talk to me in person. He's a coward. But he was nice, and I still kind of feel bad...

"Are you listening?" Sam lifts her head from my shoulder as I step up to my locker.

"Sorry, I was zoned out. I'm listening now."

"I was wondering if you wanted to come over later?"

"Sure, sounds good." I slam my locker shut. "I've got to get to class. See you at lunch." We both walk our separate ways.

My bag slung over my shoulder, I close my locker and start heading towards the front doors. I see Sam's blonde ponytail across the hall. I start moving towards her as I call her name. We make eye contact and she makes her way through the crowd to meet me.

I accidentally bump into someone. Out of habit, I mumble, "Sorry," and continue walking.

I only realize it was Ethan I bumped into when I see him stop and stare at me out of the corner of my eye.

"Keep moving, fag!" someone yelled as they tried to push past him.

I want to deck the jackass who said that in the face, but instead I just keep walking to Sam, and wrap my arm around her.

Together, we walk into the courtyard, and onto the bus. I take the window seat and lean against the side. She sits next to me and leans on me. I smile and rub her arm.

We both scroll through our phones while we wait to get off at her stop. The bus pulls up to the corner of the street and the doors fold open. We grab our bags, say "Thank you" to the bus driver, and start our walk to her house.

She pulls out her key, unlocks the door, and steps inside, me following close behind.

"Do you want something to eat?" she asks me. "I make a mean bowl of cereal," we both laugh.

"Sure, that sounds good." I walk to her cupboard and pull out two bowls, placing them on the counter. She opens a box of Lucky Charms and pours them into the bowls as I grab milk out of her fridge.

We sit down and start eating and talking about school.

"Did you notice Ethan like following you today?" We had never really talked about the incident, she just knew not to bring it up.

"What are you talking about?"

"Whenever I saw you in the halls, he was near you. I've just never seen him in the hall with you before."

"I didn't notice. He probably wasn't following me, you just never noticed him before."

She doesn't say anything and focuses on her bowl. She moves around the cereal with her spoon.

"When was the last time you talked to him?" she asks quietly.

"That night was the last time."

There's another pause. "Did you actually like him?"

That question hits me like a ton of bricks. I don't know the real answer. "What kind of question is that, Sam?" I snap.

"It's just... I really like you, Connor. And if you have feelings for him, I don't want to waste my time loving someone who doesn't love me back."

"I don't have feelings for him. Sam..." I hesitate. "I love you."

She pulls me into a hug, then kisses me passionately.

"I love you too, Connor," she says and kisses me again.

We both stand up and move to the couch. She curls up with her legs on the couch and leans her head against my shoulder. I grab the TV remote with one hand and grab hers with the other. I start to channel surf as we interlock our fingers.

"I love spending time with you," she says.

"You too," I respond, just as my phone vibrates.

My heart stops when I see who it is.

Ethan: So, you're dating Sam now?

I block the number and kiss her hand.

"I love you," I whisper as I put my head on hers, though I'm more trying to convince myself than her.
