Arieth's pov
My heels hit the bed as my legs swing back and forth anxiously. They swing in a constant rhythm to the clock that now sat above my door.
1:00 am
1:10
1:15
Is this late enough? Surely nobody's awake at this hour. My head rests on my clamped hands as I stare at the far wall, imagining how we would escape.
All the feelings inside me were building up fast. I felt like a bottle one shake away from blowing my cap. My feet swung more frantically causing them to go out of rhythm with the clock.
Amongst the anxiety, and stress, I could feel fear creeping it's way into my mind. Shooting itself through my veins with only one destination.
My heart.
Fear went to my heart and doubt went to my brain. If either of them reached their destination then I wouldn't be able to do this.
Fear would paralyze me and doubt wouldn't even let me try.
I jumped off the bed mid-swing and ran for the secret door. As soon as I reached Harry's room I ran to his bed, not bothering to be quiet just yet.
I yanked the sheets off him and threw them behind me. He jolted awake with wide eyes and pushed himself against the headboard.
"Get up. We are leaving, tonight."
I went to his kitchen and hastily threw open the cupboards. He had as much food as I did, which was good. We would both pack a bag to take with us.
Briskly walking back to the bedroom I went back to Harry who was still in bed.
"Ari....?" He said groggily. Sleep and confusion evident in his voice. "What are you doing in my room?"
"We are escaping so get up and get some clothes on." I said as I ducked under his bed and pulled out a travel pack. I smiled, just like my room.
My hands faltered on the zipper. Wasn't it suspicious that both rooms would have a travel bag under the bed? They weren't even hidden that well.
Pushing the thought from my mind I dropped the pack on his bed. This could very well be a trap. Two travel packs under both our beds? I mean, what else were they used for besides traveling?
They were pretty useless to us... unless they wanted us to try to escape...
Anger welled inside me like a volcano. It wasn't enough to kill of innocent teens, they had to play with their minds too. Make them think they would get away then have some horrible trap waiting.
I shook my head. Even if this was a trap I'm not letting this opportunity go to waste. I'm going to get past them to freedom. And the world will never see me again...
Snapping out of my daze I saw Harry walking out of the closet in a black clothes. At least he got the memo. He came over to the bed rubbing his eyes then running a hand through his hair.
"So what are we doing, exactly?" He asked with a scratchy voice.
I pointed at the bag.
"We are going to fill this with food and water then we are escaping through those air vents." I said motioning to the vent. It was ground level and big enough for us to fit.
He looked at the vent then back to me. I pointed at the pack then spun around and headed back to my room.
Snatching my prepacked bag off my bed I grabbed a butter knife from the kitchen and went back to his room. Setting my pack down by the vent I stuck the butter knife in between the wall and the metal.
