I'm really scared

So my mom was brushing my hair and whenever I said something she didn't like she would wrap her arm around my neck and I would jerk it away. Me and my grandma were talking about something and my mom told me that I loved to argue for the sake of arguing and how I need to learn how to keep my mouth shut. I told that her that didn't like arguing I like talking. So she put her hand over my mouth in a rough way and I jerked it away and went to get up, she pulled me back over to her by my hair and told me to respond to what she said earlier. I told her that I didn't want to sit in there floor so she let me get up then she told to say what I wanted to say. I told her that no one likes having a hand clamped over to their mouth. She yelled about how she was adult so she knew better and how that next time I talked back even if we are in public she would back hand me in the mouth. I hold my tongue a lot and refrain from calling people names and insulting them. Please tell me if do you think I need to stop being a smart ass and listen or she should express her opinion without making cry.
