Chapter 14: Training Against Baxter

A few months had passed since Gregory had been training with his sister, Erica.  She has become a pro using her magical powers. Erica felt whole since she had her brother in her life as well as Shawn, her sweet boyfriend.  Mallory, Gregory, Shawn, and Erica have been going on double dates all of the time in between training.  Jackson, Lia, Bri, and Theo taught Shawn and Mallory how to fight.  Lia used the same maneuver on Jackson that she did many years ago as she distracted him with her flirty banter.  Jackson tripped up as she landed on top of him giving him a kiss. 

Lia whispered in his ear,"I won, Jackson."  Gregory walked over to Mallory after they finished. He brushed Mallory's hair out of her face.  Her cheeks immediately heated up as his lips brushed against hers. 

Shawn playfully joked, "Get a room you guys!"  He was busy putting his arms around Erica's waist.  Theo smiled at his son causing him to reminisce about when he said similar words to Jackson and Lia when they first got together.  He saw a vision as he held on to Bri's hand.  Theo knew where Regina was being held but he knew they needed a plan before he voiced to the others what he saw.  It could be a trap since Baxter had been obsessing over revenge of his son's betrayal. 

Lia's parents were on their annual cruise. They had left a few weeks ago. It was one less thing for all of them to worry about since Baxter was targeting them all.  Gregory finally convinced Erica to move in with them. Her adoptive parent's consented. He made the house become bigger by magic so it could accommodate everyone. 

Baxter was someone they should fear since he had caused multiple massacres in one night.  He turned people against each other by using his dark magic to manipulate people's thoughts.  Baxter caused pain, turmoil, and enjoyed murdering people.  Their innocent screams fueled his evil powers.  When Mallory, Gregory, Shawn, and Erica were at school, Lia, Jackson, Bri, and Theo worked overtime saving countless people from Baxter's grasp. Bri had been using her force field powers to counteract Baxter's magic.  Theo had pinpointed where the attacks would take place in order to stop Baxter from getting what he wanted: total chaos. 

Theo finally told them about his vision a week later since he figured out what they could do to make sure Baxter would be stopped, once and for all.  Gregory and Erica used their powers to find exactly where their mother was since Theo only saw bits and pieces of where she was being held. Mallory held Gregory's hand. This made his warlock powers become more powerful than Baxter's.  His pure love for her made his light magic become stronger and more protective of everyone he cared about. 

The plan was simple: Mallory, Gregory, Shawn, Erica and Theo would save Regina.  Jackson, Lia, and Bri protected Erica's adoptive parents from Baxter. Gregory teleported them to the old and abandoned house where Regina was being kept.  He gave Mallory a reassuring kiss since she was trembling in his arms.  Shawn held Erica's hand while Theo surveyed the place.  Gregory used his magic to undo the enchantments his father had put on the house.  He went in first and found his mother. 

Jackson and Lia were fighting Baxter at the Lancaster's house.  Bri used her force field to send his magic back to him.  Baxter was wounded when Lia stabbed his chest with a small blade. 

Jackson was proud of Lia. He said, "I have a strong wife that I love with all my heart."  She smiled and replied, "I had a great teacher and I love you too, Jackson." 

Baxter retreated since he sensed his son found Regina.  The small blade was laced with light magic by Gregory. He untied his mother and hugged her tightly as his eyes filled with tears. He teleported Shawn, his mother, and tried to do the same with Mallory. 

She dodged the spell and said, "I am not leaving your side, Gregory. Our family is safely protecting the town. We are in this together until the very end."  Gregory relented only because he knew that  he was stronger with her by his side.

Gregory held her at his side and used a protection spell to make sure Theo and Erica would be safe from Baxter.  Baxter smirked as his son faced him.  They looked so much alike, but Gregory represented the light and his father was from the darkness.  Erica was now next to her brother and Theo was front and center. Theo took a deep breath. He knew it was time for them to end this after months of battling against a ghost.  Baxter will be stopped but at what cost?
