Every head in the room turned to gaze in awe upon the lovely Dana Lorington. Her long lashes, clad with an insane amount of mascara, fluttered flirtatiously as she strutted through the wide doorway and flipped her flowing black tresses over her bare shoulders. Her lips were their signature colour, a vibrant red smeared across her thin lips to the extremity. The strapless designer dress she modeled was tight fitting, showing off her perfect figure and flattering her features. Dana tilted her chin up and looked down her dainty powdered nose at Mr. Armaer. He simply stared at her, though this was no different than how she usually dressed, and he was well aware.
"Welcome, Dana." He stammered, a bit blinded by her beauty. Then he bowed and extended his hand to escort her to the ballroom, where all the other guests had already gathered.
"Thank you, William." She accepted his hand with her long, gloved fingers. They walked in silence down the empty hallway full of painted portraits that seemed to stare at them as they passed. When they reached the end, Dana pulled her hand away softly and entered the grandly decorated room slowly and as dramatically as possible.
'Ah, Dana.' thought William 'You always did like to make an entrance.' He sped up his pace to catch up to her.
"May I have this dance?" He bowed playfully again and she nudged him.
"You make quite the fool of yourself when you do that."
" Which is why I only do it to the infamous Dana Lorington."
Dana couldn't help but smile.
" You may have one dance, William. No more."
" Then I shall make the best of it."
Dana smiled again. As she was swirled gracefully out onto the dance floor, the memories flooded her mind.
"I've been thinking, Dana, about the past. Our past." William began. "That one night..."
" Don't bring it up, William. It is history. We are history."
There was a slight pause as they listened to the slow music.
" I still love you, Dana. And I will be here waiting for you the moment you're willing to come back to me."
"Oh, you childish man. Love is just a feeling. A foolish distraction from reality. It comes and goes, but life always comes back and slaps you right in the face. You're a fine man, Will. Find yourself someone you deserve."
"Someday you'll be ready, Dana. Someday." Will finished confidently.
Dana just sighed. The song had ended, and she slipped out of William's reach and slinked into the back corner, where she stood, simply observing. She had to think about what she was to do. This had happened before. Once William realised that he could never truly hold her heart, as it would ruin her image as a world renowned singer and actress, he would surely grow angry and release to the world the happenings of that one night so long ago. Did he even know he had a son? She hadn't told him. He couldn't possibly know. Perhaps before she disposed of him she should tell him the truth. How was it to be done? Poison, she decided. It had seemed to work well for the last victim. Swift, and not very messy. There was no time to waste. 'Better for it to be over with.' She thought ' There isn't the time for guilt.'
