High School Romance

Chapter 7 - Confessions

"Girls, do you think I should confess to Ray Lightfoot during History class?" Kathy questioned Loretta, Ashley and Kristin.

"Well, what if he rejects you? It's going to be super embarrassing!" Loretta and Ashley bellowed.

"Quiet down, girls! Remember, I had a reputation to uphold!" Kathy said, with a mind-your-tone face.

"Well, maybe you could Kathy. H e would probably accept you instead of me. I am such loser. Just because I am in your group doesn't mean I am VERY famous."

"You serious, Kristin? Thank you, you're my best buddy!" Kathy exclaimed as she grinned from ear to ear.

"So how are YOU planning to confess to HIM?" Loretta asked Kathy.

"Well, let's just say that I am going to 'meet-up' with him outside of school."

"What do you mean by 'meet-up', Kathy? Ashley asked.

"You'll see, girls. You'll see!" Kathy answered with confidence.

After school, Kathy waited for Ray right outside the school gate, planning to follow him. When he comes out of school bouncing his basketball, Kathy secretly followed him. Then, she saw him going to a basketball court. She thought "Let's just say I am joggin' after school to keep fit and popped it!"

Kathy walked faster and faster and she purposely knocked onto Ray.

"I'm so sorry sir. I didn't mean to do that!"

"Hey aren't you Kathy? One of the trios."Ray said, with a surprised expression.

"Oh, hey Ray! Nice to meet you around here!"

"So what's up. I mean, why are you here after school?"

"Exercise and keep fit!" Kathy replied.

"Oh okay,see you around!"

"This is my chance!" Kathy thought.

"Ermm, Ray." She hesitated to call his name.

"Yeah?"

"I have something really important to tell you." Kathy said, as she gulped down her saliver.

"I, I... I am.... I am in love with you!" Kathy said, with her cheeks turning as red as tomato.

"What, you... you, you love me?" Ray said, with his mouth gape open.

"If you don't feel the same, that's fine. I just hope that you won't feel awkward because of me." Kathy said.

"Sorry Kathy. My heart is with someone else. But we are still friends!" Ray said in an apologising tone.

"It's okay, I knew you were going to reject me." Kathy beared the tears that were flowing out of her eyes and ran away from the basketball court.
