"Hel-" I tried to shout out for assistance but my head bobbed under the water once again. I struggled to reemerge from the cruel waves that pushed and pulled me deeper and deeper. I was thrashing my limbs about as my vision had a light blue tint from the water that threatened to be my coffin. I continued squirming and struggling against the waves that desperately wanted me below the surface. I tried to scream and swim back up but no matter what I did it was futile.

I knew it was but I still had a small pocket of hope in my heart as I reached my hand up toward the surface. Then the wave that originally held me prisoner subsided so I swam back up toward the sky.

I was nearly to the surface when I was propelled forward as if pushed from behind. I was now caught in a new wave and the little pocket of hope I had shrank. I was running out of air now and my limbs were aching from the struggle. I didn't want to give up but my body needed air and wanted to take a deep breath, even if I was in the water.

My body took in a deep inhale on it's own volition and I could taste the salty seawater before it slowly made it's way to my lungs. I began choking and sputtering but there was little I could do. My vision started fading while I was struggling and as my vision faded so too did my pain.

I could no longer see anything or even feel anything. I was now in a limbo state, somewhere between living and dead.
