She looked up into the sky, it was cloudy and cool but she still took the time to appreciate it. She could feel the wind blowing cold against her shoulders and pulled her wrap closer around her.
The chill felt worse as the moon emerged from behind the clouds, large and round and almost full. Some nights it looked yellow but tonight it burned a bright white. The light was so that she could nearly feel the reflection in her own eyes.
She wondered who else looked up at the moon that cool night and what their thoughts were. Would any of them think of what she was thinking? Or was she alone under the beautiful almost full moon thinking of others who would never think of her?
She shuddered again at this thought as the moon dipped below another cloud. Somehow she felt more alone now than before; she waited for the moon to creep back out from behind that cloud so she could imagine those others, standing or sitting, looking up at that same moon. She wanted to feel that connection however small. It was better than nothing, after all.
