Have you ever had a best friend that you loved but they were hard to handle sometimes?  Elizabeth Doutin is my best friend and she has always been big on coffee, especially on Mondays.

Lizzy ran at me practically screaming,  "ALICE!!!!!! I found my soulmate!" As she shoved her phone in my face. It displayed a typical looking guy who was smiling sheepishly in the photo.

"I don't get it, how is he different from any of the others?" I asked, as she sat down. I couldn't understand why she was being so loud considering it wasn't even first period yet. I looked at her skeptically.

She sighed, "I know that this time it will work." I had already stopped listening, seeing as it was the first day back and I was too busy looking at the new kids, there  were always new kids because of our schools ridiculous exchange program. The school only ran for half of a year, because every kid had an exchange partner, so for half the year, our partners came here, the other half we went to their school.

"Excuse me?" I turned around to see who thought it was a good idea to disturb me in all my morning madness. I was face to face with a tall brunette who looked confused. He must be an exchange student because I didn't recognise him.

"Y-Yes?" I stuttered. No joke I actually stuttered, who even does that?

"I was looking for Alice Evans, the guy over there told me she was over here." He said blinking. "She's my partner."

Lizzy squealed. "Alice is right here." pointing at me she backed up, "I should find my partner anyway." She practically ran away.

"So much for best friends," I muttered under my breath. " Yeah I'm Alice," I said to the guy, trying to not make it obvious that I was checking him out not even a minute ago. "So... What did you say your name was? "

"Oh right, well I'm" he paused dramatically to stick out his hand "Asher." His hand was just awkwardly hanging there for a second -or like 30 seconds- before I thought to shake it. Looking like a moron the whole time probably.

"Let me show you around and point out our classes, since we'll be sharing them. "

"So that's the whole school, just find me before school if you need help."

"Thanks," he said obviously wanting to say something but holding himself back. Probably something masculine or sexist. I know that's a stereotype but I can't rule anything out yet... I just met the guy, he could be a serial killer in his spare time

"Here's my number if you can't find me."

"What if I just want to call you?" He asked boldly

"Then just call, there's really no need for you to though." I relayed to him my number then waved bye as I headed off to the breakfast line to see what terrible first day food our school had.

"He's cute"

"Jeez Lizzy, a little warning would be nice. " I responded -very friend like- to my best friend who was now, very obviously staring at my partner.

"My partner is over there,  that girl." She said pointing half-heartedly at a girl sitting at the other end of the lunch room busy texting someone.

"I think you'll get along with her. "

"Oh shut up" she said punching me. Then walking away she added "See you at lunch. "

"Yeah." I muttered after her.
