Kai's story is very similar to The Little Mermaid, bear with me.
Kai was always fascinated with the humans who came to the beach she lived by. Their actions always made her want to know more. But, she was also afraid of them. She likes to steal humans' beach covers and wear them herself, pretending to be a human. But she is also very happy in her underwater world.
