First-day surprise

Uma's POV

It was the first day of the new school year and everyone was falling back into the routine of it all. For Uma that meant sitting in her chivalry class and listening to music on her phone with Mal. They had just taken a test and were allowed to browse their phones and have quiet conversations. Since this was a class where Uma only really knew one person she had decided to partner up with Mal for the year, that way it looked like she was trying without actually having to. It was a condition of her not being on complete lockdown like Jonas or Desiree, she had to expand outside of her crew socially. It was annoying but Uma liked her freedom and she preferred not having a guard with her 24/7.

As they listened to a new song Uma noticed that Mal kept looking at the door. Wondering what she seemed to be waiting for Uma pulled the side that was in her ear out "What?" she asked and Mal Hurriedly shook her head "Nothing.' the purple hair girl said as Uma put the small bud back in her ear. They had continued listening until Mal suddenly jumped up, startling an unexpecting Uma who had been thinking about talking to Harry later that day, and exclaiming "Oh my!" while grabbing her things. Trying to calm her rapidly beating heart Uma hissed "What?" glaring at the unexpected outburst. As if looking for an explanation Mal stuttered "I...forgot I have a hair appointment with Dizzy, no one likes split ends." she said in a rush and laughing nervously, Uma didn't buy it for a second but brushed it off and told her newly refound friend goodbye.

Within seconds Mal was whispering with the teacher and then was gone in the blink of an eye. Now that Mal had gone Uma wondered what was really going on. She had half a mind to find some excuse to follow the other girl but figured that some things were best left alone. Really, what business was it of hers to follow her anywhere? Instead of acting on her suspicion that something was going on Uma stuck the now unoccupied earbud in her other ear and just listened to music while she waited for the bell to ring so she could enjoy her two free hours she had before her next class. No one like a Nosey Nelly anyway.

Harry's POV

Standing on the grounds of Auradon Prep Harry took in the scene. Spending the last four hours out on the water made Harry appreciate being back here, even though he had spent months waiting for his chance to leave and do what he'd be dreaming of since he was a young boy. He never imagined that he would miss it so much, but he was sure a certain turquoise-haired girl had something to do with that. Speaking of Uma, she had no idea he was there. Eric had cut training short due to some family matters that called for his immediate attention. In light of this news, Harry and some of the guys had decided to surprise the people they had left behind. He knew that Uma had no idea he was home and he couldn't wait to see the look of surprise on her face when they were reunited after months of being apart.

Only imagining what it would be like to have the love of his life back in his arms once more, to see her face once she saw what other surprises he had in store for her, Harry couldn't wait any longer. He went in the front doors that lead into the castle that was Auradon Prep and was greeted immediately by Mal, Ben, and Evie who all rushed to greet him. He hugged the two girls and shook the king's hand. As they all welcomed him and thanked him for his service Harry had his mind on one person and one person only and that was Uma. Harry was about to ask the others where her class was when Jay walked through the doors and they greeted him in the same matter. When they all finally parted Harry was able to ask "Where's Uma's class?" He'd wanted to see her since the moment he had gotten home and it seemed like life wasn't letting him do that right now.

Seeming to realize their mistake Mal spoke first "She's in Ms. Fauna's Home Economics class," she said pointing Harry in the direction of the room. Wasting no more time Harry started in that direction, as he was walking away he heard Mal tell Jay "Lonnie's in that class too." and from behind him, Harry heard Jay walking up behind him. Finally, they reached the door and as Harry peered into the small window on the door to see the back of Uma's long teal hair, her head down on her desk. Before Harry even had a chance Jay was opening the door of the classroom, causing several people to look in that direction. Jay didn't seem to care about that though, it was the loud exclamation of "Jay!"  from Lonnie that earned a grin from him as the Chinese princess hurled herself at him and into his arms. When it seemed that one of Uma's classmates was trying to get her attention Harry put a finger to his lips to silence the other girl.

Thankfully Uma didn't notice the attempt from the other girl because he was able to slide in next to her and pull one of the small buds from her ears "If you have those things in how are you going to hear someone talking to you?" he whispered, watching as her head popped up and immediately turned in his direction.

Uma's POV

Uma was just minding her business, on the verge of falling asleep, when she suddenly heard a voice. It was an unexpected, familiar, missed, surprising and wonderful voice. Harry! Her heart frantically beating she snapped her head in his direction to see him sitting there with his famous smirk on his face. Before she could even register what was happening she threw herself at him, loving how his arms automatically wrapped around her. She sobbed as the others around the pair of them and Jay clapped, she felt Harry's arms tighten around her. She couldn't believe he was home early! She wasn't expecting him for a few more weeks and he never mentioned a thing about them returning ahead of time. 

For two minutes at the very least, they stayed like that, neither one wanting to let go of the either. Finally, Uma gently pushed Harry away, his hands coming to rest on her hips, and looked into his beautiful blue eyes "How are you here? Training wasn't supposed to end for two more weeks..." she inquired, biting her lip when Harry brushed some of her hair away from her face "Training let out early." he replied and Uma nodded but quickly asked "Why didn't you tell me?" wanting to know why she was left out on knowing he was coming home "I didn't tell anyone, I wanted it to be a surprise." he answered and she nodded again. They sat in silence as everyone around them returned to what they were doing before.

 Uma's text messages went off and as she went to check them Harry grabbed her hand to stop it from going to her phone "You want to get out of here? I didn't graduate to sit in a classroom." he stated and Uma shook her head "I can't just leave class, my free period isn't for two more hours." she said and Harry smirked again "You can when you have permission from FG and Ben." he said and Uma raised an eyebrow "I've talked with them and they've talked with your teachers as well as Tiana, you have the rest of the day off." he explained and Uma smiled "Why are we still sitting here then?" she asked, gathering up her things and pulling him out of the classroom. 

In the hallway Harry asked "What do you want to do first?" and Uma shrugged and yawned at the same time. Before she even got to say that she was a little tired from not sleeping much the night before Harry stated "Take a nap it is." chuckling and Uma blushed a little. Together they headed up to her dorm room and went inside, leaving a note to let Cj know that she was going to be asleep and not to make too much noise when she came in. Wordlessly the two of them got into the bed, Uma sighed in contentment as Harry pulled her close to him and gently started stroking her hair. It didn't take long for Uma to fall into a deep sleep, the first real sleep she had in months. For the first time since the beginning of May Uma was happy! Harry was home, she had her other half back and everything was right for the time being. In her heart, Uma knew that Harry felt the exact same way.

Author's note: Yay, Harry's home! No more stressed and lonely Uma for a while. As for the house, it's likely going to be a graduation present so she doesn't know she's getting it yet. Also I wanted to say yay for two posts within a 24 hour period, that hasn't happened in a while. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!!!
