*Olivia's POV*
"Stupid slut!" my boyfriend, Jonas, yells at me. He raises his hand and slaps me again. He is mad because he found out I started talking to my best friend, Ethan, again, Jonas hates it when I talked to Ethan but I do it anyway.
Another slap stung my face. I have gotten used to the slaps, kicks, and punches. It's been like this for 2 years. I wish that I could get out but he threatens to kill me every time I try to leave. Ethan doesn't know about the abuse. No one could. If they did it would only make things worse.
After a few more hits Jonas storms out of the house. Probably headed to the bar. My phone chimes. I pray it isn't Jonas and I am glad to see it isn't. It is Ethan.
Eth :) - Headed that way. See you in 10! :P
Crap! I forgot that I told Ethan I would hang out with him today. I quickly write him back.
Liv - See you soon!
I quickly get ready by putting on some makeup to cover the hand shaped bruise forming on my face. Next I slip on some clean jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I pull my sleeves down to make sure that they cover the ugly, purple marks on my sleeves.
Right as I finish getting ready I hear a car horn outside. I go out and hop into Ethan's car.
"Hey Liv!" I smile at the nickname that Ethan gave me in middle school.
"Hey Eth!" I say as cheerfully as possible. "What's the plan for the day?"
"I though that we could go to our secret hide out. Remember when we used to go there everyday?" He smiles. I nod and smile myself as the memories begin to flood my mind.
When me and Ethan were in 7th grade we used to hang out at the park a lot. We especially liked to hang out in the woods beside the park. One day we discovered a clearing among the trees. In that clearing Ethan and me created a small fort out of fallen trees and tree limbs. I had not been to our hide out since I got together with Jonas. He would hate the place.
Ethan parks his car and we both quickly get out. Today is a little bit warmer than I expected. I am tempted to roll up my sleeves but I know I can't. I can't let Ethan see the bruises.
Ethan leads me through the woods to our fort. The fort is a little damaged on one side from where storms have passed through. Me and Ethan work together to repair quickly. After we fix the fort we go inside it. We sit down inside in a comfortable silence. The longer we sit, the hotter I become. It is super hot in here.
"Liv are you okay? You look extremely hot." He looks over at me with a concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine. But it is super hot in here." I subconsciously begin to roll up my sleeves. I only realize what I did when Ethan's eyes widen.
"Liv, what happened?" He takes a gentle hold of my arm so he can get a better look at the bruise around my wrist from where Jonas had had a tight grip on my arm a few days ago.
"It's n-nothing. Just me being clumsy." I lie as I begin to slowly push my sleeves back down.
"I don't think this is accidental, Liv. Not when this bruise is hand shaped and there are more bruises up your arm." He takes my arm again and pushes my sleeve back up examining the bruises again. "D-did Jonas do this to you?"
