(A/N: This is going to be a long chapter...just bare with me. :) )

Asher's P.O.V.

Thoughts were racing through my mind a million miles per second. The first thing I did after the wreck, after I watched them load Mak into the ambulance I called Nick. He was just as lost for words as I was. I was losing grip quickly. I wanted to cry, seeing everything happen before my eyes was to much for me. My stomach was rolling and a lump was forming in my throat. I rushed back to my car and forced the engine to life. By accident I revved the engine, then pulled a U-turn and sped off down the road to the hospital. I hoped and prayed Makenna wasn't seriously injured. But she'd seemed in so much pain, even though she had passed out. Her back....oh god her back! My heart felt like it stopped. Makenna had back pain all the time, so many "what if"s raced into my mind. I shook my head hard, and kept my mind focused on the hope that Makenna had to be okay.

Twenty minutes later I was pulling into the hospital parking lot. Nick met me at the hospital door, looking just as worried as I was. I gave him a grim look and pushed through the front doors and straight up to the front desk. The woman at the desk looked at me expectantly. "I'm looking for my friend. She was just in a car accident."

"What's her name?"

"Makenna Cooper." I said her name, my voice shaking slightly.

Her eyes went cold then numb. She stood up and walked out from behind the desk. "This way." She said quietly.

I glanced at Nick, my nerves shot and my heart beat racing. The receptionist's eye's worried me. Something was wrong. "Do you know anything about her condition?" I asked her rushing to keep up to the short woman.

She shook her head. "She has to go into X-rays. They brought her in quickly and straight into the emergency room. Her condition isn't great."

"She was hit head on, no doubt a drunk driver." I said, my voice lowering.

"I was afraid of that." The woman said.

We turned down another hallway, a large set of doors with "Emergency Room" printed in large red letters across it sat in front of us. My breath caught in my throat and Nick put his hand on my shoulder in a comforting gesture. We pushed through the door as the woman continued to lead us down the hallway. She stopped at a room and gestured with her arm for us to go in. A woman nurse stood with her back to us beside the hospital bed. I froze then rushed in. The nurse looked at me shocked but said nothing and left.

Makenna lay on the bed unconscious still, her breathing shallow. Cuts covered her face, a small white bandage covered a small spot on her forehead, and stitches closed another gash. Her arms were pale like her face but covered in forming bruises and cuts. A hospital blanket covered her torso. IV's ran from her arms and hands to machines that made quiet beeping noises. I stood at the side of her bed, tears of fear and anger filling my eyes. I ducked my head, hiding my face with my hair. Nick placed a hand on my shoulder again.

"She's gonna be fine Asher." Nick said quietly.

I glared at him. "How can you be so fucking sure?" I growled. "Look at her damn it!" I growled, struggling to keep my voice quiet. "She looks like hell!"

"Asher, calm down." Nick said as calmly as he could.

"No! I hope that fucking bastard gets thrown in jail!" I snarled my eyes narrowing. I looked back down at Makenna.

"Look, I'm upset to. And I completely agree with you Asher, but Makenna will be fine. She's strong." Nick said sounding sure of his words.

I stared down at Makenna's unconscious body. I ducked my head again, placing both hands on the side of the bed I shook my head hard and gritted my teeth. I sunk to my knees and rested my head on my arms, my hands balled into fists. A few minutes later the doctor walked in. I looked up, gaining my self-control again I stood back up.
