Shout out to @PersiaLionheart who inspired me to write this story. Go check out their run away story, 'What If Hiccup and Astrid Left Berk?'.

Hiccup P.O.V.

"You did it hiccup!" shouted Gobber,"you get to kill the dragon". Oh god, what have I landed myself into. I forgot the stupid dragon nip in jacket pocket, I thought to myself. Ever since I discovered that dragons have a weakness for dragon nip I have been carrying some around with me in case of a dragon attack.

I looked at Astrid who was fuming with a look of fury in her face but I knew that it was just for show in front of everyone else because they expected her to behave as such. But I can see from her eyes that she is happy for me eventhough I was not. She knew I had big daddy issues because of my lack of Snotloutness and she was thinking that it was probably a good thing I won being the son of the chief though I knew she would rather die than express it out loud.

Then suddenly my thoughts landed on Toothless and I knew I couldn't kill a dragon because they were not meant to be killed. I won't kill the dragon because it was not right. They were kind, intelligent and gentle creatures not the vicious beasts we thought they were. My thoughts were interupted when a big, burly, red bearded viking shouted from the stands.

"Well done, son!" Stoick cheered,"we celebrate tonight for my son".

The villagers cheered and started to fill out still cheering and shouting like the vikings they were while stood there weighing my options, unsure of what to do.

Finally I decided to go to the cove and see Toothless while making a descion in peace and quiet without all this shouting and hollering. Besides that, I didn't want to be in viking company at the moment. But before I could get going, a certain attractive blonde viking girl came up to me and clapped me on the back making me stumble and almost fall. "Good job, hiccup. Your father, the chief looked so happy right now. I have never seen him like that. I knew you had it in you, though I had no idea that dragons like your smell. That Gronckle looked lovingly at you after smelling you. How did you do that?" Astrid asked me looking quite amused.

"Well, there is this grass type plant that dragons like..." I said sighing as I brought out the dragon nip and gave it to her. She looked shocked and shouted at me,"CHEATER!" and then she saw that I got scared of her and started giggling and laughing. "What's so funny. You scared the hell outa me," I said, not very amused with her sense of humour.

"That is what's funny. You were scared of me", she said trying to control her laughter. "There are different ways to win a battle and you followed one of them. If you think that I am mad at you then no, I am not mad. But I am curious though. How did you find out that dragons like it", she asked curiously.

"Well... I umm... tripped and fell when walking around the forest and umm... I fell on a patch of it... and rolled on it... yeah thats right... and umm... I guess a bit of it got stuck on me and umm... a dragon yeah... a dragon suddenly came at me sniffed me and fell into a heap of drooling mess. I quickly ran away and brought some here to test it out... and so yeah... it worked... I guess", I said stammering horribly.

"Okay...", she said as she tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear. She looked like a goddess and a devine beauty just like her name meant standing there with one on her hip and... okay I was getting horribly distracted.

"What are you staring at?" she giggled as I blushed.

"Nothing... nothing... just... I am just glad that you don't hate me"

"Why would I hate you?"

"Because... you know... I won by cheating... and the fact that you don't like to lose..."
