I slowly walked up the steps to the school and opened the doors and took in my surroundings. People crowded the halls, girls talking amongst themselves by their lockers and laughing with their friends. I walked into the building and went to the main office.

"What can I do for you, sweetie?" The woman behind the desk asked. I gave her a small, polite smile and walked over to her desk so she could hear my quiet, timid voice.

"I need my schedule, please.." I said with a nod and she smiled and typed something on her computer and walked over to a printer. I looked around and waited as she wrote a few things on the paper she had just printed. I rocked back and forth on the heels of my feet and watched as she folded the paper. I held out my hand as she held out the paper. I grabbed it and said a quick thank you as I walked out into the crowded hallway once again. I looked down at my folded schedule and read it:

First Block: Amercian History - Mr. Wels

Second Block: Algebra - Mrs. Fedelity

Third Block: Lunch

Fourth Block: English and Literature - Mr. Ferris

Fifth Block: Science - Ms. Mills

Sixth Block: Advanced Music - Ms. Doll

I was especially excited about my sixth block class. I had gotten the class I had signed up for, Advanced Music! Music is my life and I play the guitar, bass, keyboard, lap harp and a few more instruments. I also sing a little, but not infront of anyone. I smiled at my soon-to-be music teachers name. It's not everyday your teachers name is Ms.Doll. I walked down a few stairs and looked around for Mr.Wels history class. I saw it at the very end of the hall and I walked to the room and peeked in. The class was almost full and well, you guessed it.. Everyone saw me peeking in. I hate being in the spotlight so I just looked down and walked in, followed by a few other people.

"Welcome to American History homeroom! Your name is?" Mr.Wels said cheerfully, while looking at a sheet of paper. The attendance, I suppose it was.

"Dakota.." I mumbled in a voice that was barely audible. He looked at me for a moment and then back at the attendance and put a check by my name.

"Take a seat, Dakota!" He said in his once again cheerful voice. I nodded and sat next to a boy with dark blonde hair and brown eyes. He nodded at me as I sat down and I returned the gesture. Soon enough, Mr.Wels had us filling out papers about ourselves so he could get to know us better and he made us introduce ourselves to the class. When my turn came, I slowly stood up and swallowed hard.

"Hello.. I am Dakota.." I began as loudly as I could manage, "music is my life.. I play a few instruments and Im very quiet.." I smiled a little and sat back down after Mr.Wels approved my introduction to the class. I was looking straight ahead at something Mr.Wels was writing on the board when I saw a piece of notebook paper slide across the table. I looked down as it stopped right infront of me. I unfolded it and it read:

'Hello Dakota!' I looked at the boy next to me as if to ask if it was him and he just nodded. I waved as a response to the note and he smiled and shook his head right as the bell rang...
