(Small Background Summary)
-this whole story is slightly influenced by my old fanfic The Move (unpublished) because I feel like this is going to be better.
Having to move to America for my Senior year was the hardest thing possible. It was going to be my second and last year in college in England and I was planning my degree in fine art, ready to move onto University when my parents told me the news. I felt like staying in England was the better option but deep down, I didn't even want to go down that career path, it wasn't for me. I felt like this was my opportunity to change things before it was too late. We sold the house and moved to New Jersey where my parents believed that they had to move to continue successfully with their careers. Knowing that this was a fresh start was relieving, I didn't really want to think about my past. I had been someone who was constantly in trouble for drugs, alcohol and breaking the law. I got out of it when I reached college, passing my GCSE's just about and was ready to begin the rest of my life. However, it still left a print on me. People knew who I was and where I had been and what I had done and it changed the way people treated me. I was constantly influenced into being like that kid again and I told myself this was not going to happen. I stuck my head down and got working. Flying out here to New Jersey may actually be my full fresh start that I wanted after all.
Getting to New Jersey was a long process but in the end we arrived and it felt amazing. Our house was in a nice neighbourhood, with many large houses that were very private and secure. It was so refreshing, unpacking my things and seeing my new town, I was so ready for school to start. I had already applied for my new High School and got in, so I was excited to meet new people. But for now, I had to enjoy the summer until the time came around. I knew it was going to be a lot of hard work for me so there was no time for me to slack now so all I needed to do was get through this year and get into a good college and make my family proud.

And just like that, it was my first day of school. My day started with waking up at 6 am, something I definitely wasn't used to as I slept in until 2pm most days. I had a quick shower then got dressed, putting on the outfit I picked out the night before. I didn't know what was common in America to wear, but I knew it was pretty similar so I just kept to what I liked to wear at home. The temperature was not too bad yet, but it was slowly getting colder so I chose something a bit warmer. I wore a v neck cut out shirt and ripped jeans, with my black zara padded jacket. It was something that if I could, would wear every day because it was just so chilled. I left my curly hair down and put on a little bit of makeup. I was ready to face the day. Grabbing a bite to eat, I got in the car, ready for my mum to take me to school.
"Are you ready?" She asked, climbing into the car and shutting the door. "As ready as I'll ever be." I said, a reassuring smile on my face. Starting the engine, we set off. I didn't really know what to expect but everything was dawning on me and I could feel my anxiety kicking in as I could see the school in front of me. "Mum.. I don't know if I can do this.." I say lightly, slight fear twinged on my voice. "You'll be fine, trust me. You are so bright and confident, you will do amazing." She said sweetly, driving up to the car park. As we stopped, my stomach was doing flips. She got out, coming to my door and opening it. "Let's go, we need to see the Principal before letting you go into your classes." She said, tapping my leg and holding the door open for me to get out. This isn't the time to freak out Helena, you'll be fine, I reassured myself. Stepping out, I unzipped my coat and began walking to the entrance, my mum following besides me. It was slightly busy but nothing too crazy as most people were outside of school, talking to their friends they hadn't seen all year. We found the office where a kind lady called Mrs Starks went through my classes and a few other things. She said that I could come to her if anything went wrong and knowing me, I'd be coming back to her quite often. I had memorised my classes and places for the day, so I was sure that I'd be fine.
After about 20 minutes of talking, the bell rang, signalling the first class. I had math. I said goodbye to my mum who was still in conversation with Mrs Starks and I headed for my first lesson. The hallways were filled with kids and I got a couple of stares, like they knew who was new even if there were hundreds of people that they never saw atall. I arrived to my class, just as everyone was getting in their seats. I walked in and a bunch of whispers started circulating. I could hear things along the lines of "who's that?" and "she's pretty". Of course. I walked towards the teacher at her desk and she told me to sit wherever I felt comfortable. I looked round and only saw one seat in the back corner besides a guy who looked to be quite popular. A lot of the classmates were sat talking to him or were standing beside him. I knew this wasn't going to end well. As I headed for my seat, he stopped his conversation and stared at me, ignoring what his friends were saying. I dropped my bag, slouching into the chair as casually as I could. "Hey" I heard besides me. I turned to look at him. I didn't have my glasses on so from a distance I couldn't really look at him properly but now that I was close to him, damn was he hot. "Hey" I said back, looking at him and his friends. He smirked making his friends move away from him "Guys, don't overwhelm her. Go sit down or something." Those infront of him turned to face the teachers and the others went back to their seats where they had already put their stuff down. "You're knew I'm guessing" he said, leaning towards me. I flinched, not knowing how to react. "Yeah. I'm Helena." I said lightly, trying to stay calm. He looked at me taken back by something. "You're British?" he questioned. "Yeah." I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear shyly, I was never like this around people so why am I like it now? "Your accent is hot." he said. Eugh. Of course he was going to be like a regular fuckboy, no thanks. "Thanks." I said bluntly, trying to hint that the conversation was over. "Oh, I'm Grayson by the way", ignoring it and continuing. Oh shit. I knew his face was familiar.
