It was too late.
My brother stole my sandwich.
I glared at him."Give it back! You don't even like mayonnaise!"I yelled trying to snatch my delicious subway goodness back.
We were sitting at the family table, with just the three of us.My brother, his best friend and me.Since Trent,Mason and I all lived alone,we decided to live together.
Its been two years, since my mom died.Trent and I took it rough,at the point where I cried my self to sleep. I've had sleepless nights. My mom was my everything,my role model, my.....my hero.
I know that sounds cheesy, but nothing is cheesy when it comes to your family members. Eventually,my dad couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't deal with it.He needed his wife.He then, moved out, leaving Trent and I alone. We didn't really mind, because we were 18 at this time.It was just the two of us,Trent and Lilly. We got to keep the house, since we were old enough. My dad still occasionally called, but it wasnt the same. Now,ladies and gentleman, the family table.
"You dropped my fork,you buttwad!"
"Well someone obviously shoved a fork in YOUR buttwad!"
"Shut up you ugly ape!Oh here you want a banana?"
"I have a banana already you assclown!"
Well guys and girls meet the buttwad with a banana,at our family table at breakfast I present to you.....Mason Jacker.
Mason also lives alone, but I'm not sure why.He says he has parents but other than that,he isn't really open about it.I don't nag him either, because my parents raised me right.Mason and Trent were best friends ever since middle school, and theyre on the football team,of college football. We started college in September, just like everyone else.
Okay quick update if your confused:Trent,Mason and I live together now. We're still 18 but my birthday is in a week, a day away from Trent's.Mason is 19 because he got held back in second grade.(Is it mean that I laughed?)Now the three of us live together, and surviving our first college year.Yeah,a lot has changed since I was 16.
"Hey guys, can I be excused?"Mason asked, looking up.His voice was really deep.Deeper than Trent's.I noticed that there was a silence before he said this, making me question why he wanted to leave.
I looked at him, after finishing my mouthful of cereal.(because my brother took my sandwich) "Of course you can,you don't need to ask."I stated. I forgot that Trent and Mason were previously fighting.
He left, and didn't say anything else.I waited until I heard his door close, and he was out of earshot.
"What did you do?!"I turned to Trent.
"What?Nothing!"he said.He looked innocent, and he held his arms out to defend him.
"Are you sure?He looks depressed.Did you say something?"I questioned.
Trent fidgeted in his seat, but that didn't make him guilty."He's fine.We didn't fight. He just got quiet after I asked him about his parents. That's all."he shrugged his shoulders and picked up all the empty dishes, including Masons.
"Okay."I replied and got up too.School was tommorow anyway,so I might as well get some rest.Catch some zz's.Get some shut eye.Get a beauty rest. Got to Dream La-yeah I should stop.
I went to bed,and I guess the boys went to bed also. You might wonder if I get annoyed with the boys, but I don't really.Theyre funny, and sometimes entertaining.Well Trent is just plain retarded.
Let me tell you a little bit more about Trent.Trent is my older brother, who looks nothing like me.He's older than me about a couple of days, and he never lets me forget it.He has brown curly hair, which he got from our mom,and blue eyes.(My dad).I,on the other hand, have straight black hair, and brown eyes.I look more like my dad,and Trent looks like my mom.I like that about him,so it helps me to never forget her. Its like Im looking at a piece of her.
I got ready for bed,and wiped all my make up off, which took a long ass time.I heard a little bit of rustling from Masons room, but I decided he was probably practicing or doing his homework.
I scrolled through my social media, and maybe stalked some cute guys.Hey,at least I'm being honest. Then I heard a knock on my door.
I looked up.It was Mason.
"Hey Lilly, can we talk?"he asked me.He was standing by the door, probably waiting for me to invite him in.
"Yeah. What about?"I asked, sitting up.Maybe this was about what happened at the table.
He walked inside and plopped himself on my black beanbag chair.I had gotten that as a present for my birthday one year. He sighed. I drew all my attention to him.
"We never really talk."he said.He paused,and I just looked at him."I mean,about my parents."
Oh."Well,I mean,if you want to,we're always here."I shifted to the edge of the bed.
He didn't say anything.
"I mean,if your uncomfortable, you don't have to.We wont bother you if its personal."I told him.
He cleared his throat."My parents died in a car crash, ever since I was eight, and I have been put in foster homes ever since."his voice cracked.
"Oh gosh,Mason, its okay. That was brave of you,you didn't need to tell me that." And that was entirely true. I can't imagine what he's been through.
"Yeah, your right.I couldve just told you I'm an angel that fell from the sky."he said dramatically.
I shoved his shoulder."Yeah, you could have." I sighed.
It was silence after that.He didnt say anything, nor did he move.I kind of liked him being there,it wasnt really awkward or anything.
Finally,we started talking.About school, our love lives, and tacos.Yeah we kind of drifted off topic.I didn't mind though. There was something that filled my heart with joy, just watching him sitting in my beanbag chair, talking. It was nice.
Mason got up from the seat, heading out the door. He laughed, which was really cute. "Well get some sleep princess,"he ruffled my hair, playfully.
I fell asleep peacefully that night.
