Once the final bell dismissed everyone else from school aka prison, the hallways flooded with kids pushing and shoving to get to their lockers. Nicole and Maxine were waiting for Stacey, James and I who all had last period study hall together.
"I still can't believe we got a fucking detention," Stacey complained.
"YOU WHAT?" Maxine yelled.
Nicole smirked. "Ooohhhh you are in trouble."
"Maxine, it's not that big of a deal," Stacey tried to placate her.
Maxine glared at both of us, "Look at my face," I looked at her face, "DOES IT LOOK LIKE I CARE?"
No.
Shut up.
Maxine stepped to Stacey, "You know damn well why we're not supposed to get in trouble here."
"Look, Max-", I started but got cut off by the P.A. system blasting over the intercoms.
"All detentions are to be held in Room 207.", I heard the principal's voice over the loudspeakers.
Maxine pointed in Stacey and I's direction and said, "We will have words,"
Aye, aye captain.
SHUT UP.
You know you wanna.
STOP.
I can't hear you.
NO!
AYE, AYE CAPTAIN.
Omigosh.
OOOOOOHHHHHH.
I hate you.
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
"Ryan are you coming?", Stacey poked me and smiled at me and I think I might have melted just a little bit.
Oh sure, go with the pretty girl. Ignore me, I'm not important.
I'm rolling my eyes at you.
"Yeah, I'm coming,"
We walked to the detention room and entered through the door.
Where else are you going to enter through?
Windows, walls, vents, etc. I think I'm making my point clear.
Whatever.
As we walked in, I noticed a couple of kids in the back of the room. Then I saw a familiar douche-ass face.
"You have got to kidding me," I muttered to myself and Stacey looked back at me, confused.
I gestured with my head to the back of the classroom, "Bobby fucking Preston." I gritted my teeth.
"Hey," she put her hand on my chest and all coherent thought flew out the door, "he's not worth it, ok?"
I sighed, "Okay."
We made our way to two seats close to the door and sat down. The teacher monitoring us didn't even look up from his newspaper.
Who even reads newspapers anymore?
I looked at the headline which read 'Another Murder: Thought to be Connected with Dangerous Newly Formed Mafia'
I remember vaguely hearing a news report on the news a couple of days about a CEO that was thought to have ties to this mafia but was found dead in his apartment. Police had no leads. I shuddered a bit at the things that the news reporter had said that this mafia was responsible for lately.
