Okay, I wrote this one on Quotev, so if you feel like you've read this before, that's probably why.

"Cross! I need you to go to another universe and ruin its Pacifist timeline." Nightmare said.

Cross perked up at the thought of doing something. "Which universe?"

"Underlust."

(Okay, please don't hate me for picking that one. It was a random choice from the back of my mind when I wrote this)

-----------------------------

After a successful mission, Cross returned to the void/castle/thing Nightmare was staying in.

"Nightmare, I've finished." Cross said as he neared his friend.

Nightmare nodded. "Good job, Cross."

An awkward silence set in. It was very awkward, as each person wanted to say something to break it, but decided not to. This went on for quite a few minutes.

Finally, Cross cleared his nonexistent throat. "Well, do you need me to do anything more today or can I leave?"

Nightmare mentally gave a sigh of relief. "I have nothing else for you today. You may go."

----------------------------------------------

The next day, Nightmare had called all his evil friends to his castle/void/thing. That included Horror, Dust, and Error.

"WhAt Do YoU nEeD uS fOr?" Error asked as the five skeletons sat around a table.

Nightmare's lone eye looked between each of the others. "I have gotten word from one of our spies that the Star Sanses are planning an attack here in two days' time. We need to prepare for them. I want Dust to look into our defenses. Horror, I want you to see to weapons and if we'll need any. Error, I need you to see if you can find out any more about the attack. Cross, you're with me. Everyone understand what they're doing?"

They all nodded.

"Good. Now, let's get to work."

-------------------------

Those two days passed pretty quickly. Horror kinda got to slack off, as everyone just planned on using magic.

Cross was never able to leave Nightmare's side. Then again, he was never complaining about that aspect of the planning. He was always helping Nightmare with something, whether it was planning, checking on the defenses Dust didn't want to do, or just reading up on some things. Nightmare never said what it was he was looking for though. He told Cross to find something enjoyable and sit own as Nightmare himself did all the looking.

----------------------------------------

"Here they come!" Dust yelled from his post on a wall.

Indeed, the Star Sanses had arrived. The three advanced on the castle/void/thing.

Horror, Error, and Dust ran ahead to defend. They disappeared around a corner.

Nightmare and Cross hung back, knowing that if the others lost, they would be the last line of defense.

Ten minutes passed and Cross stepped away.

"I want to go look. I'll be right back." He said.

Nightmare didn't want him to go, but he allowed Cross to go anyway.

Suddenly, Dream bolted down the hall at Cross. He attacked with so much speed and force, Cross didn't stand a chance.

He was flung across the room and into a wall. He fell to the ground unconscious and limp.

Nightmare ran over to Cross. "Cross! Cross, are you okay? Dream! What did you do?" He seemed both very concerned and very angry.

Dream seemed stunned and shocked by his own actions. "I.....I don't know what happened, Nightmare, I-"

"Shut up. I don't want to hear it." Nightmare growled. He returned his thoughts to Cross, who's HP was dropping. He had 0.4 HP.

Nightmare was worried. Very worried. "Dream! Help me heal him! Please!" He pleaded.

"Call of your friends and I will!" Dream said, crossing his arms.

"Please do it now! I can't lose him!"

0.3 HP

"I'll help him, you just need to call back your friends!"

0.2 HP

"Okay! Just....please help Cross."

0.1 HP

Nightmare stood. "Horror! Dust! Error! Come back and stop fighting!"

Dream nodded and progressed to heal Cross. "Ink! Blue! Come back here for a moment!"

The five arguing skeletons walked back toward the others. Only Ink and Error weren't arguing. They were having a friendly conversation with one another.

------------------------------------

An hour later, Dream, Ink, and Blueberry had left for their homes, and Dust, Horror, and Error had left as well. Just Nightmare and Cross remained at the castle/void/thing. Cross was asleep in a spare room. Nightmare watching over him closely.

I'm sorry if I got their characters wrong, I didn't really know how to portray their personalities properly when I first wrote this.
